BREAKING: The Idiots at Louisiana Citziens to squander $500,000 in scarce reserves to appeal judgment to the US Supreme Court (Updated)

Louisiana Insurance Commish Jim Donelon

How sad that an insurer set up via taxpayer fiat is so against the policyholders it was created to serve.  I’ll add that based upon the last legislative auditor report such a move tells me the Citizens is insolvent. I wonder if they are still running quickbooks? What a joke they are!

And to think just 3 years ago the lit and hallucinating buffoons on the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board were praising Jimbo the Clown and Louisiana Citizens Insurance.

File this one under sold out.

Update:

It did not take the Supreme Court long to bitchslap Jimbo down and make no mistake folks this is all Jimbo the Clown. Even worse, he claims to have more ideas to make this mess worse.  Whadda Clown!

  1. They are simply trying to buy time for a political bail-out. Wonder how they get the Supremes to stay execution of the judgment pending a worthless writ?!?

  2. I don't think they can stay execution of the judgment. I might need a refresher course in applications for cert, but I cannot see any possible way the U.S. Supreme Court would have jurisdiction over this. I'd love to read Citizens' statement of jurisdiction.

  3. This also underscores Donelon's willingness to play political games. Louisiana is full of talented, bright lawyers. Why would you hire a D.C. firm, which is brand new to the case? Now the new firm has to come up to speed on the entire case and learn Louisiana bad faith insurance law. Post-Katrina, insurance law in La. and Miss. developed in light years and it was so nuanced that it was hard for lawyers who do this every day to keep up with the quickly-evolving changes.

$150,000 to request a stay and $500,000 (and maybe more) for a cert application is tantamount to lighting hundred dollar bills on fire. There is no doubt that Citizens hired the D.C. firm because they are connected, and Donelon thinks they have some swack with the U.S. Supremes. And when they lose (and as Apollo Creed said, "Lose royally you will"), it's no sweat off the nuts of the lawyers who just made a half-million dollar fee off the grotesque wasting of La. taxpayer money encouraged by our genius Donelon.

  4. I saw this yesterday and my blood boiled over. This piece of excrement (Donelon) is going to complain about a penalty handed down against an insurance compnay that dragged its feet when people were at their most most vulnerable state, but yet $500,000 for what amounts to a pipe dream!

This alone calls for him to be removed! What an unbelievable outrage! He is a true embarassment.

  5. Recall Jimbo the Clown. When our State cannot afford to properly fund education or repair streets, and this idiot just blew $500,000 (and perhaps more as the TP article noted) on what is certainly a "pipe dream" is a complete abdication of responsibility to the State. God save us all!

  6. imaangry…wishful thinking on the recall…although, I agree 100%. Sadly, the "Louisiana sheeple" ( yeah, I know that's harsh but they did it.. not me…) put "Jimbo the clown" in for another term as State Insurance Commissioner in a two to one vote against his challenger.
ANYBODY would have been better than this trash Donelon. He is owned by the big insurance interests…he doesn't take a leak without first calling State Farm and getting their permission.

So, guess the sheeple can live with this monster…it's appartently what they wanted…
