I think we’re getting close to welcoming the Jefferson Parish School Board to Slabbed

We haven’t forgot about you guys no siree. I’d say more but my source would then have to kill me. I will say what I’ve been told has nothing to do with this though my bestest beetches at Phelps Dunbar once again show up like a bad penny in parish government. This time it is wild hair Harry instead of Nan and Dave. Did Harry actually do anything when he was USA in NOLA besides draw a paycheck? I didn’t think so.

Pop some popcorn folks ’cause this is getting good.

Oh yeah, here is a great link for you Jefferson Parish folks to chew on that has absolutely nothing to do with this post though I could write a book on the subject. Then again someone already has. Those were the days…….

From the Captured Regulator files I offer the US Coast Guard

I was very sorry to see this report. I wonder at what point this nation’s Coast Guard became hired muscle for BP?

Kelly Cobiella reports that a CBS News team was threatened with arrest by Coast Guard officials in the Gulf of Mexico who said they were acting under the authority of British Petroleum.

Insurers own most of the state insurance regulators and half the US Senate along with President Obama so I guess it is only natural big oil has their cut of the pie too. We ain’t been whistling dixie here on Slabbed for the past 2 years that people are fed up with Government, Inc. and their boot licking waterboys. (H/T a reader and the Cowboy)

About Nowdy's Campbell Brown post….

Folks, on this very busy day here on Slabbed, Nowdy’s post on Campbell Brown circa October 2008 ate some spinich and made like Popeye today as news trickled out that Campbell was leaving CNN. While neither of us have yet had the pleasure of meeting Campbell in person both of us feel like we know her because of her very proud pappa and our very good friend Jim Brown, whose column we run virtually every week.  Two unmistakable signs of character are self sacrifice for others and taking one for the team before the team perceives the need. Campbell displayed both traits yesterday and I suspect Jim is more proud as her today than ever. The media decoder blog at the New York Times has the skinny:

To be clear: this is my decision, and one that I have been thinking about for some time. As for why, I could have said, that I am Continue reading “About Nowdy's Campbell Brown post….”

"Suck it fishes and birdies" – BP decisions making Goldman's "prophesy" our WTF reality

So much for the post I’d planned to write before I remembered that I’d saved  Goldman Sachs Reveals it Shorted Gulf of Mexico quoting the email from “Goldman employee Fabrice “Fabulous Fab” Tourre” to his girlfriend bragging about the firm “taking a ‘big short’ position on the Gulf:

Think the owner this former BP station near Mobile might have been just a little bit worried about what the BP image might do to his business? The reader taking the photo said the Shell logo was pasted over BP,and even the pumps had signs signs declaring, "This is a Shell product."

“One oil rig goes down and we’re going to be rolling in dough,” Mr. Tourre wrote in one email. “Suck it, fishies and birdies!”

Gotta tell you — there are probably a lot of out-of-work folks all along the coast who read that and thought how “fabulous” it would be if  a few of those oil-sucking birdies and fishes could give Fab a “big short”.

Speaking of short, just how tall do you think BP’s 12-year-old “expert” might be? The Sun Herald picked up the story from Carl Hiaasen, columnist for the Miami Herald, who reported this “absolutely true news item”:

British Petroleum says it is considering a plan to plug the main leak on the sunken Deepwater Horizon oil rig by shooting it full of shredded car tires, old golf balls and knotted ropes.

You decide if the rest of Hiaasen’s column is “absolutely true”:

BP announced today that it has fired its top engineer for safety design and replaced him with Jody McNamara, age 12, a sixth-grade honors student at the Dwight Eisenhower Middle School in Tulsa, Okla.  McNamara…was offered the BP job after a panel of industry experts selected his 250-word essay, “How To Stop Undersea Oil Leaks Really Quick,” over thousands of other entries… Continue reading “"Suck it fishes and birdies" – BP decisions making Goldman's "prophesy" our WTF reality”

Breaking: AROD crosses paths with Judge Lance Africk. Detention hearing scheduled for Friday.

Yesterday evening we received word that things are heating up against in USA v O’Dwyer and sure enough a check of the docket revealed a couple of motions filed by Team O’Dwyer.  I’ll circle back to those but first there was something else on PACER that seemed a bit odd so we must get some background courtesy of Nowdy:

Entry below made on 18th but when you click on docket number screen comes up with “You do not have permission to view this document.”

Summons Issued as to Ashton R O’Dwyer, Jr (jtd) (Main Document 54 replaced on 5/18/2010) (jtd). (Main Document 54 replaced on 5/18/2010) (jtd). (Entered: 05/18/2010)

What’s interesting about it is that clearly there appear to be three versions of the summons issued (but no reason given for replacing twice).

Ashton solved the mystery for us on the summons so here is the very short version of what’s up: Continue reading “Breaking: AROD crosses paths with Judge Lance Africk. Detention hearing scheduled for Friday.”

So all Steve Theriot wanted was information on wrongdoing?: An open letter to Steve Theriot and the Citizens of Jefferson Parish from Anne Marie

If all Steve Theriot wanted was information on wrongdoing why doesn’t he start with all the information in my Personnel Dept complaint and Supplemental and Amended complaint?

Now that I know that was what he was looking for I will happily prepare detailed reports of all the violations.

First of course I will need my old computer which has thousands of emails with attachments showing all the violations and violators.

And also I will need all my documents and ring-binders and files and folders the Parish Attorney’s office is still holding. I am told it is being held in the ‘secret room’ on the 7th floor of the Parish Attorney’s office.
