“Launch of CIA Cocaine Coup turned on Romney win” gives needed context to Slabbeds examination of the Sibley prosecution

Hugh Sibley’s Driver License / Mad Cow Morning News

I know some of you folks likely speculate whether or not Slabbed has limits on the topics we cover or if we’re 100% No Fear.  That exact subject has been the topic of reader feedback since my second post that re-examined the money laundering prosecution of Greensburg area lawyer Hugh Sibley.  The international drug trade is one of those tension raising subjects and for good reason IMHO.

Last week I mentioned Slabbed had received a media inquiry and it was not an ordinary one.  Before I get to that and let’s go back to that No Fear thing as it is true the drug trade has no mainstream trade journal, though I am familiar with one Spanish language blog that would be considered the Slabbed of that genre.  Amazingly it is tolerated by the drug cartels but rest assured I have no desire to raise the stakes of what Slabbed New Media does any further than the high bar we’ve already set.

So last week investigative journalist Daniel Hopsicker sent me an email inquiring about Hugh Sibley as he was connected to Jorge Arévalo Kessler, one of the people that was indicted along with Sibley.  Hopsicker’s body of work includes the Barry Seal murder (Slabbed’s profile here) which in turns leads us to Seal’s Baton Rouge Defense Attorney Louis Unglesby, rumored to be one of the combatants engaged in Sal Perricone’s online rants at NOLA.com.  It just gets more complicated from there folks but the bottom line is there has been some serious perversions of our drug laws by the intelligence community and it seems as most of the smuggling routes are here across the deep south.

Some of what Hopsicker reports has multiple, credible media sources such as the US Banking connection to the money train.  Just this past Sunday 60 minutes profiled the take down of a “Super Drug Cartel” operating out of Columbia illustrating the huge expanse of the topic.  I mention this because I’m skeptical on Romney connection cited in this post’s headline, which is taken from the following story by Hopsicker that focuses mainly on Ecuador’s role in the drug trade, which leads us to Jorge Arévalo Kessler, which in turn leads us to Hugh Sibley. I highly recommend it as a companion to last week’s post on Slabbed re-examining the Sibley prosecution. Stay tuned for part three of that series.

  1. This is what Lee Snider’s attorney had to say about Sibley:

“And then there’s Hugh Sibley, who is a tort
lawyer in — was a tort lawyer, made millions of
dollars in Louisiana trying tobacco cases and other
cases. As I pointed out to you, his wife died about
five years ago when all this got started. He ran up
enormous gambling debts, and he thought that getting
into the airplane leasing business would be a fast way
to make some money. And a little bit like
Mr. Snider — very similar to Mr. Snider in fact — he
gets involved in airplane leasing deals with these
drug-runners initially not realizing that he’s dealing
with people affiliated with drugs at all but then
later realizing that the front people have given the
planes over to the drug-runners and he’s trying to
make some way to get his payments to pay off the
companies that have loaned him the money to get the
    planes in the first place.”………

……… “Of these, probably Mr. Snider is the least
culpable of the four. He and Mr. Sibley, I think,
could be characterized as certainly the least culpable
of the four, and Mr. Snider is probably even less
culpable than Mr. Sibley based on certainly
Mr. Sibley’s legal background, his knowledge of the
law, and whatnot. I think to characterize him as less
culpable as Mr. Snider would probably be inaccurate.
He’s at least as culpable, if not a little bit more.”

That was part of the argument as to why Snider should recieve the same sentence as Sibley – 1 year and 1 day – instead of the 4 year and 9 month sentence he received. ven him.

  2. For those who like the conspiracy type of thing–The Bay of Pigs Museum has a nice read on the offical
CIA version of the Bay of Pigs now declassified. The museum is the creation of the only man left who knows it all—Felix Rodriguez. I’d like to visit one day. Their online stuff is explosive in my mind. It tells why a lot of our history went the way it did. I believe Felix is laying the case for future generations to understand why he and others did what they did.

A very clear picture of Felix Rodriguez and Che Che pre-execution.(can’t see if the Rolex is still attached to Che Che’s arm at this point or it was taken off after the hand was chopped off prior to mailing to Fidel).

  3. Never seen one of these before but if you google the reporters name -Daniel Hopsicker- you get this at the bottom of the google search page. Very impressive.

  4. Of course I am a hobby CIA researcher. So this post is right up my alley. Gotta figure Ole Felix is down in Miami about to have a stroke with the thought that John Kerry may be running our Nations military very soon.
I think Felix proved his metal when he volunteered to go back into Cuba during the Missile Crisis. This was the closest our world came to ending as we know it and Felix asked to be parachuted into Cuba to get the proof the USA needed to confront Russia. His mission was cancelled due to the end of the crisis but again this guy has managed to be right in the middle of every major event of the past two generations. If he would tell the true story of his life it would probably be the best read or movie ever. I doubt he would tell the truth so it really doesn’t matter what he says to me. Kerry was smart to apoligize to Felix. Real smart. Never cross a Cubian of Basue descent.

“Senator, my name was leaked BY YOUR Committee as being involved with drug smuggling,” Rodriguez started his testimony. “I take that seriously. It affects my family, my reputation and my friends.”

Kerry furrowed his (now) famous forehead and affected a stern look “You’re making serious accusations here….”

“SENATOR! This slander was in every G*DDAMMED newspaper after your committee’s last CLOSED hearing!” Rodriguez shot back, “saying I solicited drug money for the Contras. THAT, senator Kerry, is a D*MNED LIE!!”

Kerry’s forehead furrowed further. He stuttered. He started loosing it himself, rambling well off the subject, asking Rodriguez about Che Guevara and why he hadn’t fought harder to save his life, etc.

“SENATOR!” an exasperated Rodriguez finally shot back. “It’s difficult for me to answer questions from a man I DO NOT RESPECT!”

Kerry gaped. A northeastern liberal Democrat he’d always been a media darling, soft-soaped and soft-balled by that feisty “adversarial” press. Now Rodriguez had him seriously rattled. But Felix didn’t miss a beat – naming dates and witnesses, citing documents – this upright and gallant man proceeded to demolish every accusation against him.

“I have nothing to hide,” Rodriguez said repeatedly. “I’m not ashamed of anything I’ve done. I’ve battled communism since I was 17. I help the Contras, I help the Salvadoran government. I do so as a volunteer, legally and openly. And if you’re sincere, senator,” he finished up. “You’ll put out a statement to the press about what I said here today. I INSIST that the American people know about my testimony!”

  5. Look finding this out after three damn years my own Grandfather William “Hugh” Sibley disgracing the “Sibley” name. Also how could he keep this from me his own grandson that just hurts me. Now I know why his ass went to jail in 2010-2011 I am depressed at you Paw Paw
