Please allow me to introduce Slab City to the Slabbed Nation.

Near the shores of California’s Salton Sea, where the road gives way to barren desert, is a place where many have gone to park their troubled lives.

Bill Ammon has lived in what’s known as “Slab City” for 13 years.

“This piece of property is public-owned,” he said, “and it’s so useless, so desolate, that nobody wants it and they let us be here.”

Slab City takes its name from the concrete slabs it sits on — all that’s left from a World War II training camp. Now it is home base for more and more people who can’t afford to live anywhere else.

There are nearly 2,000 people living in Slab City, many refugees of the Great Recession.

New on Wall Street: Topless Protesters

The media here in the US has mostly roundly ignored or run down the continuing protests on Wall Street but the social media has been buzzing about the sit in for a week solid now.  It appears the protesters are turning to new and exciting tactics folks as the following tweet indicates:

I already know in advance what our #1 outclick will be today.

I just don’t know why I thought of Blazing Saddles when I noticed the Dow Jones PR counter offensive in the broadening News Corp scandal……;-)

In fact folks I thought of this quote when I read today’s Wall Street Journal.

I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers, and Methodists!

This WSJ story in particular.

News Corp. is attempting to do on U.S. soil what it failed to accomplish in London: contain the damage of a scandal over dubious reporting tactics at one of its British tabloids.

The New York-based media conglomerate is looking for outside reinforcements in investor relations, policy relations and public relations to help handle the impact of the scandal domestically, according to people familiar with the matter. Not long ago on Slabbed, Longshanks said the American people were in reality slaves…

And when you read the Rolling Stones article on Wall Street being completely above the law you’ll understand why you see names like Brooksley Born, Judge Jed Rakoff, AIG and crooked CEO John Mack in our archives. And sadly, I’ve concluded Longshanks is probably right, we are becoming economic slaves to financial interests and that the sheeple are too self-absorbed and ignorant to understand that basic fact. It also explains why I have little respect for sham regulators like Jim Donelon and Mike Chaney or the rest of the corporate do bitches that populate the Republican party. The Democrats aren’t any better though their rhetoric doesn’t come across as quite so clueless.

Perhaps this is why discriminating bloggers call folks like House Speaker John Boehner a dumb fuck for talking about repealing the weak financial re-regulation bill that passed last year. Meantime the Hollow One, $tung by critici$m about being too hard in Wall Street, is now genuflecting before CEOs like John Mack $pit $hining their $kin flute$.  Ain’t 2 party politics swell!

Hat tip to Editilla and Dambala.
