I’ll note for the record that when Congressman Palazzo’s opinion mattered most, i.e. when he voted on Biggert-Waters he voted to impose those NFIP rate increases on his own people, which will keep the folks at the US Bankruptcy Court busy for years to come.

U.S. shipbuilders are losing a staunch Congressional ally. After 11 terms in the House, Rep. Gene Taylor has lost his bid to be re-elected to the Mississippi District 4 seat.

…His eleven terms brought a seniority that placed him well to defend shipbuilding interests as Chairman of the key Seapower and Expeditionary Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee. He is also Co-Chairman of the Congressional Shipbuilding Caucus.

The wave of Republicans taking over the House on Tuesday swept out Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Miss., one of the most passionate supporters of the Coast Guard and U.S. merchant marine in Congress.

Taylor has served 11 terms in Congress. He is chairman of the House Armed Services subcommittee on seapower and expeditionary forces and chairman of the Congressional Shipbuilding Caucus. Slabbers Unite! Meet and Greet with Nancy and the Gang Over at Gene's Place

Monday evening at 5:30PM. I understand all the finest Slabbers will be in attendance. Come meet Nancy and the rest of the US House of Representative leadership. Editilla d’Aphasia and Mr CLS a special invite to you two guys. Rep. Melancon attended last year. Space is limited so arrive early 20 minutes or so early.

The best poll (IMHO) shows Obama winning in November. We made an impression last year – having the House on our side will prove invaluable for all us Slabbers. I got the email press release from AM but Anita Lee broke the story.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders are expected to attend a town hall meeting on insurance at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Bay St. Louis.

U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Bay St. Louis, will host this third annual meeting.
