Judge OKs subpoenas to Advocate reporters over meeting with FBI agents ~ Jim Mustian

This in turn explains why Slabbed will continue to rely on janitors and other low level sources, including the gutter for our muck raking, which is still done the old fashioned way. How about some lovely music:

Pop the popcorn, enjoy the show and stay Slabbed.

Me Too! Because she obviously does not love Sal as much as Slabbed loves Sal

The she being well known local publicity hound Sandy Rosenthal whom evidently still has a case of hurt fee fees after government employees dared to disagree with her assertion Hurricane Katrina was somehow a “man made disaster”.  I don’t even try to figure out the logic because there is none but while Hammerman was chasing Buddy Caldwell, Lee Zurik was publishing an email sent to Sandy by Sal Perricone. Such is the sad state of the investigative department at Fox 8 these days.

It appears Levee.org has morphed into a crusade against Silence Dogood instead of its former equally silly mission of trying to hornswoggle journalists into saying Hurricane Katrina was somehow made by man. Should she and her dangerous ilk have their way community sourced topics that appear on Slabbed like the DMR Scandal would not occur and as such she is dangerous to the first amendment.

Now Slabbed is at a disadvantage here because our man love for Sal Perricone is largely unrequited due to certain, unfortunate circumstances but I get the faintest of bat signals that Sal has not destroyed his membership card in the greater Slabbed Nation so there is hope. Sal just know we love you dude despite the fact it looks as if you are soon to be run over by a freight train.

With that off my chest check out Jason Berry’s post on the same topic as he was so moved by the inanity of it all that he unloaded shortly after last night’s 10:00 pm news.

Slabbed examines the harassment of private citizens expressing their opinion on Jefferson Parish Corruption: Part 3

Part 2 of this series ended with the allegations contained in the Concrete Busters lawsuit that Fred Heebe, along with several co-conspirators has been waging a coordinated campaign to unmask and otherwise harass internet commenters sharing information on the political scandal in Jefferson Parish.  I’ve always pointed to the first post I did on Aaron Broussard’s curious connections to an Eco lodge in Nova Scotia Canada in January 2010 as the beginning of this saga but it really isn’t as the retaliation didn’t begin in earnest until May, 2010 as the following blast from the past should jog everyone’s memory:

Jefferson Parish president sues his online critics ~ Richard Rainey, The Times Picayune

Interim Jefferson Parish President Steve Theriot Citing defamation and “suffered embarrassment” allegedly caused by online comments posted at www.NOLA.com, Jefferson Parish interim President Steve Theriot has filed a lawsuit requesting the identities behind 11 user accounts on the website.

and this.

The suit was filed by attorneys Nan Alessandra and David Korn of the Phelps Dunbar law firm.

The lawsuit also references messages posted on a local web log called slabbed.wordpress.com, but doesn’t specifically identify any comments, screen names or accounts used there.

“We haven’t actually been contacted by Jefferson Parish at all, as far as official channels,” said Doug Handshoe, who co-founded that site in Mississippi. After reading the lawsuit, he said: “I think it’s certainly designed to intimidate and silence online commenters.

“We don’t intend to alter what we’re doing at all,” he said.

Let’s leave aside for the moment that only the Parish Council has the legal authority to sue on behalf of the Parish or that the taxpayers of Jefferson Parish picked up the tab for TheRiot’s jackassery but it is what it is. Later the same day I would appear on Fox 8 in a Val Bracy report which aired on the 9PM news:

Vaughn Perret and Charles Leary of Trout Point Lodge

By May 2010 everyone that was anyone in the Landfill saga knew who I was including Aaron Broussard and his band of Goatherders. Slabbed continued undaunted and in my opinion February 2011 was our finest month to date as myself and my former blog partner were in rare form and we covered it all from the Rigsby Qui Tam suit to Ex Rel Branch, the Search and seizure fight involving River Birch and then on February 25 the indictment of Henry Mouton.

March, 2011 continued the pace with those and related topics but it was this post on March 31, 2011 that proved to be the last straw for the Goatherders. The bogus DMCA takedown notices began to flow right around the time I tried the first time to make the jump to the self hosted site Slabbed.org.  Also in April, 2011 I announced the formation of Slabbed New Media LLC as the new owner of the blog. April, 2011 is important to this story for another reason: Continue reading “Slabbed examines the harassment of private citizens expressing their opinion on Jefferson Parish Corruption: Part 3”

Well Lee, you weren’t the only guy who couldn’t get ol’ Harry on the line…..

Feds investigate former St. Charles DA ~ Lee Zurik, January 24, 2013

The FBI has requested records from the Clerk of Court’s office, and our sources say the probe involves DWI’s and alleged sexual favors.

If I was a newspaper reporter I’d ask Jim Letten why St Charles Parish DA Harry Morel Jr decided to call it quits ~ Doug Handshoe, September 9, 2011

Gee Lee, what source would that be?

Trading leniency for sexual favors perhaps? Maybe instead of being allowed to resign the man should be prosecuted. JMHO

I’d like to remind our local media friends of the creative commons license Slabbed displays on the right side bar.  I’m not asking for money, nor am I looking for a share of a Peabody award.  Attribution is all I require.

Is this a sign the Virginian is undoing some of the more curious Team Letten decisions, as previously documented on these pages?  An apology to AROD would be certainly be in order IMHO.

Slabbed Investigates: Continued bad times at the Legal Department at the Super 8 Motel on Clearview

Vaughn Perret, Daniel G. “Danny” Abel and Charles Leary posing for the business media in Nova Scotia at Trout Point Lodge

Are we noticing a trend with the Legal Department at the Super 8 Motel on Clearview Parkway and the media yet folks? It is all here on these pages:

The last bullet point brings me back to 2010 and a family on the Northshore that found themselves in a legal pickle involving the ownership of the lot upon which their house sat as Channel 4’s Dennis Woltering explains:

Butch and Nicole Martin say their home here in Abita Springs is in many ways everything they have always wanted.

“The house is beautiful,” Butch Martin said. “We absolutely love it.”

Trouble is, when they had some financial troubles and were forced to try to sell it, they discovered they probably don’t own the lot where the house sits.

“We own the house, but not the yard,” Nicole Martin said.

A buyer was ready to purchase their home more than a year ago, but then two days before closing the buyer’s title, the insurance company notified the Martins that the sale could not go through.

“We got a phone call to notify us that we had a bad title, and we actually didn’t even own the property,” Butch Martin said.

The Martins say they now believe that the property under their house was taken from the heirs of the original landowner, William Nill.

“The property was basically stolen,” Butch Martin said.

But this short snippet from Woltering’s story does not do the story justice so I feel compelled to embed the link to Woltering’s report on the fleecing of the Martins and their title insurance carrier Fidelity National because the Martin’s were hosed as it is clear Northshore lawyer Bill Magee engaged in specious land transactions around a decade ago.
