The events surrounding Katie Stewart’s Criminal Complaint Against Jeff Harding and the LesLie Mobile come into sharper focus

Folks before you swear out a criminal complaint against someone you should always consider whether or not there are third party security videos that would undermine your affidavit. Did Katie Fillingame Stewart consider that the Camera Never Blinks? I’m thinking the answer to that question will be revealed in fairly short order.

Slabbed has seen two different security videos that depict the events leading to Ms. Stewart swearing out that criminal complaint against Harding. What was most interesting to me is the white vehicle that was tailgating Mr. Harding and the Les-Fiillin Machine aka the LesLie Mobile, who was around 11 seconds behind Ms. Stewart. This situation is still fluid folks but rumor holds that white vehicle behind Harding was being driven by a Bay St Louis police officer that would in turn be a witness to the entire chain of events. Maybe this is why sources are indicating to Slabbed that Bay St Louis Police Chief Denardo has turned this matter over to Hancock Sheriff Ricky Adams. Commenter Paying Attention revealed what could be a much bigger problem for Hizzoner last night:

It has been reported that they are following their adversaries with part time cops.

Has Chief Denardo and his guys become hired muscle for the Committee to Re-Elect Les Fillingame? That is a disturbing thought folks. Continue reading “The events surrounding Katie Stewart’s Criminal Complaint Against Jeff Harding and the LesLie Mobile come into sharper focus”

The 1st Amendment under attack by the City of Bay St Louis, A Place Apart | Updated

First up with the debut of the LesLie Mobile, an act of political expression by local resident Jeff Harding aka the Poolman. Slabbed was there to cover it in Old Town Bay St Louis last Saturday:

The people I saw looking at the vehicle thought it was pretty funny, after all it is far better to laugh than cry at the current state of affairs in the Bay:

Let’s circle the LesLie Mobile for now and fast forward to last night’s Bay St Louis Council Budget Workshop: Continue reading “The 1st Amendment under attack by the City of Bay St Louis, A Place Apart | Updated”

BREAKING: Poolman arrested for Simple Assault and Disturbing the Peace | State Auditor pays City Hall a Visit

Slabbed has learned that local businessman Jeff Harding aka the Poolman was arrested for Simple Assault and Disturbing the Peace after he had an altercation with “interim” Building/Code Department Director Charles Oliver. I just interviewed Mr. Harding telephonically, who indicated to me that he was arrested yesterday at his home without incident and posted a $1,000 cash bond. Harding indicated to Slabbed that despite the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approving his site plan, Oliver refused to sign off on the plans unless Harding agreed to construct a 6 foot privacy fence across the entire frontage of his property on Highway 90. In turn, today Mr Harding swore a battery affidavit against Oliver, a close and longtime associate of Mayor Les Fillingame. Harding tells Slabbed that unlike his treatment yesterday, City Attorney Donald Rafferty has indicated to him that Mr. Oliver will be served with a summons and not arrested. Sources at City Hall tell Slabbed Judge Maggio will make the final call on how Harding’s complaint will be handled.

Additionally sources at the City Council have told Slabbed that Tom Chain of the Technical Assistance Division of the Office of the State Auditor visited City Hall and the City Council Chambers gathering documentation including the November 2013 City Council meeting minutes this afternoon. This was the month the City took a $500,000 loan with The First, a loan Councilman Lonnie Falgout has referred to as an “illegal loan” as it has been alleged that it was made without any statutory authority in the Mississippi Code.

Stay tuned to Slabbed for further details as City Hall is buzzing on this Friday before a long labor day weekend.

From the mean streets of Bay St. Louis: Poolman gets his letter

I reckon it is one big coincidence that this issue came up at City Hall a few days after local businessman Jeff Harding spoke out at the City Council meeting about the City’s financial crisis:

Obtained from local businessman Jeff Harding

Mr. Harding indicated to Slabbed his intent was to demolish and build a new structure and this was not a secret inside City Hall, where Mr. Harding obtained a building permit to demolish the existing structure on the property.

If you are in the business community and are planning to invest in Hancock County I think the lesson here is to locate in Waveland. Here are some of the local taxes a contractor like Poolman would pay: Continue reading “From the mean streets of Bay St. Louis: Poolman gets his letter”

UPDATED: Bay businessman claims Mayor Fillingame retaliated against his business for speaking out on financial crisis.

Although he goes by the handle Poolman here on Slabbed everyone here in the Bay knows Poolman is Jeff Harding. His comment to Knee jerk calls for Bay tax increases making a bad situation worse speaks for itself:

Breaking News. I just played a voice mail from Tommy whom works for the City of Bay St. Louis building department. The time stamp in 3:34 pm friday. Mr Tommy just doing his job said that the City of Bay St Louis revoked the business privilege license for Gulf Coast Pools llc to do business in the city. I am going to go in on monday morning and ask the non- certified building official to READ me the violations. Isn’t a great country when the mayor can pass down the chain of his command orders to shut down a company without first a written notice!

I fear Hizzoner is writing City checks his ego can’t cash. This is the man Randy Ponder of the Seacoast Echo said we needed to give a pass on the financial crisis and just let him raise our taxes. Meantime it appears the mean streets of Bay St Louis just got meaner.

These City actions are ill advised on about 100 different levels.

UPDATE:
I have obtained the voice mail left on Mr. Harding’s phone and have uploaded it to youtube. It is embedded below the jump. Continue reading “UPDATED: Bay businessman claims Mayor Fillingame retaliated against his business for speaking out on financial crisis.”
