Lets kick off the New Year Gretna style and examine city government at its worst.

Folks I don’t live in the proverbial land of milk and honey but there are some stark differences in how Government works over here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. One area the contrast is stark is in Code enforcement. To wit:

It is my intention to cast a light on those who do their jobs well. To that end, a man worthy of recognition is Mr. Tommy Kidd, the Environmental Consultant for Hancock County and Bay St. Louis.

Mr. Kidd not only coordinates hazardous waste disposals, but he traverses the county and Bay St. Louis to insure that any unsafe properties are cleaned up. He works with the individual property owners so the cleanup is completed in a timely fashion, and that the waste is disposed of properly. Additionally, he has assisted Waveland with their beautification efforts, even though he has no contract with them – only one example of going above and beyond.

I have witnessed how Mr. Kidd works with property owners first hand. He is kind and compassionate. Some have problems remaining from Katrina, and others have new issues. But, no matter the cause, he treats everyone with dignity and respect.
We were the contact party for several lots owned by a friend. Without our knowledge, local subcontractors had been using the lot to dump their waste materials, i.e. paint, sheetrock, scrap wood, etc. Mr. Kidd contacted me regarding the matter, and assisted us in having the debris removed. We were never threatened with legal action as so many others do. He has exceptional public relations skills and promotes community goodwill.

And in today’s Sun Herald we have this from Melissa Scallan:

Gulfport has had great success with its environmental court, said Rick Ryan, chief of code enforcement and environmental compliance for the city. Continue reading “Lets kick off the New Year Gretna style and examine city government at its worst.”

Career politicians are not born, they are excreted: A Sissy Roberts truth hurts update.

Given the fact that Chris Roberts has reportedly sued the Tim Baudier campaign over the flier that I’ve embedded below the fold, the only thing I can add is “Sissy” evidently did not ponder this possibility while he sat on his throne at 5AM surfing the internet with his laptop computer. Rut Roh! Its double trouble Gretna style. An update from the pig pen.

Jarvis DeBerry and the Times Picayune editorial board have called out that dishonest piece of crap/school board member Mark Morgan today in separate articles and I noted that many members of local hog pack were mentioned such as Morgan and Judge Kurt Engelhardt whom along with Chris Roberts, Tom Capella and Arthur Lawson will form the basis for this post. First up is T-P columnist Jarvis DeBerry who takes Morgan out to the woodshed over his lack of honesty:

“I didn’t speak,” this paragon of honesty said. “I made comments.”

And now the Editorial Board of the T-P chips in on the same topic:

Mr. Morgan is waging an all-out campaign against the probe and administrators. That’s troubling, especially in light of Mr. Morgan’s role in Gretna No. 2’s admissions process on behalf of a family member. Continue reading “Rut Roh! Its double trouble Gretna style. An update from the pig pen.”

From the pig pen: Chris Roberts brays about “taking responsibility” on Channel 4.

Two dogs fighting over the same piece of meat… ~ the Jefferson Parish Wino

OK folks here is Chris Roberts speaking authoritatively on the topic of public officials taking responsibility.

I feel as though I know Roberts and not just because I’ve counted more than one Yat as a friend through the years. Continue reading “From the pig pen: Chris Roberts brays about “taking responsibility” on Channel 4.”

Failing public schools in Jefferson Parish? Let’s examine how the Gretna mentality contributes

Given the 24th Judicial Districts Courts are located in Gretna I suspect it was a simple matter of time before the phrases “Grenta Style” and “Gretna Mentality” would enter into the lexicon of the Slabbed Nation in the aftermath of the impeachment proceedings against Tom Porteous as the systemic corruption of the state and federal courts was laid bare for the country to see as the participants tried to explain their behavior away by saying stuff like, that’s the way it was done in the Grenta courthouse.

But alas Porteous is yesterdays trash and there are a new group of hogs looting the public purse and doing favors for themselves such as Jefferson Parish School Board member Mark Morgan, who we profiled the other day. Morgan comes from the cesspool that is the Jefferson Parish DA’s office as did his Momma, who evidently was a political hack in her own right back in the day. Not as commonly known about Morgan was that he was a collegiate student athlete swimmer who so loved his “root suit” he had it framed for use as office decor.

Pigs like Morgan could not ply their self serving trade driving the local school district into the ground without a higher political patron however and that is where Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts comes into play. Here on Slabbed we know Roberts best as one of the crooked Jefferson Parish pols that appeared on Anderson Cooper 360 nightly back during the oil spill pumping Bobby Jindal’s sand berm boondoggle as he was evidently cut in on the back end graft associated with the no bid dredge contracts.

So now that we have the players set up let’s review. Continue reading “Failing public schools in Jefferson Parish? Let’s examine how the Gretna mentality contributes”
