How are them trade wars working out for everyone? The latest tariff, a tax on you and me, goes into effect Friday as your favorite imported single malt whiskey will be going up 25% in price:
By now I think we’re all used to having a Blowhard-in-Chief but when it comes out the Gasbag in the Oval orifice is getting his advice from a guy who quotes imaginary friends in his “academic” works on the subject of trade it takes the word STUPID to an entirely new level:
Now for the corrupt part: Continue reading “He’ll not only go down as the most corrupt POTUS of all times but likely as the most inept”
You gotta love the Haji, wrapping themselves up in the flag blaming immigrants for all their problems while they are being robbed blind by their own kind.
Some of other emails admitted into evidence revealed Manafort’s lobbying of Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner on behalf of Stephen Calk, the chairman of Federal Savings Bank. Prosecutors say Calk approved $16 million in loans for Manafort — despite several red flags — because Calk wanted a job in the Trump administration.
The emails showed that in the weeks after the 2016 election, Manafort urged Kushner to consider Calk for Secretary of the Army, a position Calk had put at the top of his list in an earlier email to Manafort. Calk also listed seven other senior domestic appointments and 18 ambassadorships — ranked in order of preference — that he would accept.
Even better we learn of these emails from the media here in the US via US prosecutors rather than the Russians. To some that is evidence of the deep state but people wearing tin foil hats have been with humanity since 1910, the year Aluminum foil was invented so that is expected.
The evidence of pervasive corruption has literally been slapping everyone that cared to notice across the face since day 1 of America’s experiment electing a carnival barker to the Presidency. Tom Marino never got the chance and Scott Pruitt may yet prove he is a piker against Wilbur Ross. And then there is Trump putting Goldman Sachs in charge of the US Treasury after railing against them during his campaign. The signs were everywhere folks and so called conservatives everywhere have proven themselves no better than Hillary Clinton democrats in standing by their man.
Even better since this is bat shit crazy 2018 we have people that were so cowardly in the 1960s as to crap their own pants to get the 4-F shilling for the coward that had bone spurs all while running down those that have served. I personally can’t wait for the new season of South Park.
Oh and then there is this:
Ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen pleads guilty in hush-money scheme ~ AP
2018 is also the year without the dog days of summer. Continue reading “While the Crooks in the Swamp are Exposed….”
And folks trust me on this because I once worked a criminal defense matter where the accused lawyer was raided along with the accused and they had the ‘privilege’ of answering major criminal charges together.
F.B.I. Raids Office of Trump’s Longtime Lawyer Michael Cohen ~ Matt Apuzzo
The F.B.I. on Monday raided the office of President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, seizing records related to several topics including payments to a pornographic-film actress.
Federal prosecutors in Manhattan obtained the search warrant after receiving a referral from the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III….
Speaking of privilege, how does this impact the Attorney-Client variety? Apuzzo ends his story with this:
The seized records include communications between Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen, which would likely require a special team of agents to review because conversations between lawyers and clients are protected from scrutiny in most instances.
The taint team sounds good but under these circumstances my experience is Attorney Client privilege may well be moot in this situation depending on the circumstances:
The crime-fraud exception cannot be used to pierce the attorney work-product privilege without the required showing that the work product was actually used in furtherance of the purported crime or fraud. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit clarified that, without more, even compelling evidence of a crime or fraud is insufficient to invoke the exception.
And that Stormy Daniels mess that Trump now finds himself? Beyond being a heathen that grabs the pussies of ladies he finds attractive, there is a problem with being a serial liar and Trump is certainly that, always concocting a story to fit the moment. Harry Litman, former US Attorney explains: Continue reading “Nothing good ever happens after the FBI raids your lawyer’s office”
I know from reading comments here that some of you folks have Donald Trump confused for Santa Claus but has it occurred to anyone that his scapegoating of minorities such as Hispanics and the poor is designed to divert attention from the stealing he and his cronies are doing?
The Whitefish contract was particularly odious for a number of reasons including the fact there are two major publicly traded power line contractors with units based in Florida and Georgia that could have been onsite in Puerto Rico weeks ago, companies that would have neither needed to ramp up employees or find subcontractors. Evidently those companies did not slip Trump or Rick Perry major amounts of campaign ca$h.
And now of course Paul Manafort, Trump’s former Campaign manager and his sidekick Rick Gates have been indicted. Worse for Trump is while Manfort was ousted from the Trump campaign in August of last year, Gates remained very close to the Trump administration with access to Trump well after he took office. The optics are terrible and that no doubt is being reflected in Trump’s 33% approval rating.
I think Mr. Trump has some worse days coming with speculation centering on his son and son-in-law being next up on the chopping block. Trump can not be indicted but he sure can be impeached. The odds on that also greatly went up today.
Next up is the inaugural Slabbed New Media Idiot of the Day Award (IDA) which goes to Fox New’s bleach blonde airhead Tomi Lahren for desecrating the American flag in direct violation of 4 U.S.C. §8(d) “Respect for flag” which states, “The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery.” Lahren, always quick to point the finger at NFL players protesting inequality should have remembered that, “When a man points a finger at someone else, he should remember that four of his fingers are pointing at himself.”
Team Trump is very fond of pointing fingers, which is likely what triggered Nassim Taleb to remind everyone of Hammurabi’s code:
If we only had that the swamp up in DC would be drained inside of a few months.
The pols in DC have been on a spending spree since the turn of the century and our national debt has skyrocketed. Donald Trump has been promising his supporters the great wall of Mexico paid for by the Mexicans and on Twitter he keeps clicking his heels together while repeating that meme evidently in the hopes that if he says it enough, people will accept his alternate version of reality. The problem for Trump, his wall and threats of border taxes on auto makers, beyond simple economics, is the Mexican people do not seem to want to cooperate with Trump’s scapegoating of them and like Trump, the Mexican President also has access to Twitter:
The problem I see is today’s tough talk on trade seems to ignore both history and the basic fact that the US is the second largest world exporter behind China:
It would be a mistake to think the rest of the world will stand by and do nothing while we slap border taxes on their exports to us and proportionally we have way more to lose than say Mexico and Japan. Continue reading “Tuesday Miscellany: Donald Trump is not the only World Leader on Twitter plus Stuxnet”
For right now I’ll describe it as the most intriguing electoral match-up that no one wanted to see. A Slabbed informal twitter poll indicated that close to 8 in 10 of you think the Clintons are filthy crooks and it is clear to most that Donald Trump is a P. T. Barnum type huckster whose words seldom convey a sincere thought. Hillary Clinton is consummate political insider while Trump has a lifetime track record of renting political insiders like Hillary Clinton.
The delicious ironies and sheer magnitude of the hypocrisy is amusing, especially the competing narratives about evangelical Christians and the Trump candidacy put out by some of the same political elites that previously foisted depraved reprobates like Newt Gingrich on the party faithful. Trump has expanded the GOP voter base with a message that appeals to the blue collar crowd in places like Pennsylvania and Ohio like no presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan and despite the media’s attempt to paint Trump as a misogynist the reality of the situation strongly appears to show that he views women more like Hillary’s hubby Bill as sex objects. As an added bonus the Donald’s wife even has some nudies floating about online. Its picture perfect really.
I suspect we’ll be having some fun with this race here at Slabbed until November.
