Cedric Richmond now sez he was detached from reality when he voted to raise your flood insurance premiums through the roof

Welp folks, here comes ol’ C-Note trying to explain away his vote to raise your flood insurance rates through the roof. You newbies need to know it was Jason at American Zombie’s coverage of Richmond’s associations with certain 501(c)3’s that gave rise to the term “conprofit” locally. Richmond, with the help of the local MSM, was able to duck accounting for what Jason found. That was yesterday’s news.

In today’s news NOLA’s Bruce Alpert reports on the crash of burn of Mary Landrieu’s publicity stunt on the coming, massive NFIP rate hikes and lordie be if C-Note doesn’t speak:

Richmond said sometimes the “reality” of legislation isn’t apparent when Congress passes a bill. That’s the case, he said, with the 2012 flood insurance measure.

“If we don’t change the law, reality is going to set in and people are going to lose their homes,” Richmond said.

I read that as saying Richmond is admitting to being out of touch with “reality”.  And as we learned with the levee failures associated with Hurricane Katrina, factoring them into the risk calculation for premium purposes has a severe downside so you gotta wonder who is gonna get stuck subsidizing the premiums of those living the illusion of protection afforded by imperfect flood protection systems, whose previous failure have been so well documented?

This NFIP thang is a complex critter and I submit letting the insurance industry write Biggert-Waters was a terrible mistake that is now being compounded by grandstanding politicians attempting to create cover for their earlier vote.

American Zombie: Great Balls of Fire!!

I had a second to take a look around the local congroovancy (Editilla speak) and I found things have been very lively over at Jason’s place as the community discussion is taking this whole Bajoie con-profit thing to new heights. Start here and just read down to meet the filthy hogger Mayor Half Moon planted on the city council. Again worth mentioning is Representative Cedric Richmond’s name in this whole deal as he too is as dirty as the day is long.

This is not my fight but I’ll add I’m enjoying seeing Richmond’s name surfacing again for partaking in Dollar Bill Jefferson style corruption.  By the time he tackled that subject Jason had already paid his dues but folks he took some serious grief for crossing Mayor Half Moon over Richmond during his first Congressional run when he unseated Joseph Cao.

Some people say we’re in the dog days of summer as the Times Picayune wanders off Half Moon’s reservation around 2 weeks too late

Folks it didn’t take long for my email in box to start buzzing with this Michelle Krupa story on Diana Bajoie, a Dollar Bill Jefferson political hack with an extensive background in conprofit earmarking. The buzz of course relates entirely to the fact that none of what Krupa reported save comments from Team Bajoie is new, as it appeared here on Slabbed back on June 6th but more important relates to an exhaustive investigation into the whole “conprofit” earmarking scam done by my colleague Jason Berry over at American Zombie as it related to now congressman Cedric Richmond, whom the Times Picayune enthusiastically supported editorially for the office.  The long and short of it folks is if you want the T-P’s endorsement for political office it clearly helps to be as dirty and on the take as possible.  Jason wisely asks that we all reserve judgment on this story as the behind the scenes is likely to be complex. That said the remainder of this post will examine that complexity.

It all started back in 2010 when Jason began running an expose on Cedric Richmond’s past career as a career politician/political hack in state government.  The return on searching for the truth where ever it led was catching hell from democrat political operatives, duplicity from the GOP side of aisle and grief from the Times Picayune, who took pot shots at him in service to Mayor Half Moon, who backed Richmond to the hilt.  All this caused Slabbed to jump in supporting Jason’s excellent investigative work and in the process, applying the concepts Jason pioneered, Slabbed explored similar taxpayer funded scams in Jefferson Parish involving then Parish Councilman Byron Lee.  I am not claiming Slabbed trail blazed this topic though we did greatly help advance the conversation.

So here we are almost 2 years later and Mayor Half Moon’s pick to serve as interim city council member, Diana Bajoie skated past the local main stream media without so much as a notice of her involvement in the Dollar Bill Jefferson scam despite the fact it was reported in the Times Picayune during the course of their coverage of the Rene Gill Pratt trial. That is until last night. Continue reading “Some people say we’re in the dog days of summer as the Times Picayune wanders off Half Moon’s reservation around 2 weeks too late”

We have a Slabb-o-gram for Lee Zurich

Girod Jackson? Oh yeah we know him well.  IMHO he is cut from the same cloth as Byron Lee, Derrick Sheperd, Cedric Richmond and that clique of corrupt politicians. Fertile ground for certain Lee though following Girod and the money will probably lead you back to Team Ward/Heebe. How funny that a guy who can’t seem to build a house is able to score big time no  bid contracts from the Parish after Katrina.

You can thank me later Lee.

The Mouton Indictment ripples across the media. Team FBI tightens its grip on Fred Heebe’s balls.

Make no mistake folks, this scandal will end up leading not only to John Alario but also to Former Gov Mike Foster, Billy Tauzin, David Vitter and likely Team Landrieu.   Steve Theriot and daughter Wanda were last seen with doughnut glaze on their chins.

Let’s kick off the coverage with Rich Rainey at the Times Picayune who did a great job connecting Mouton to Fred Heebe. It is an open secret that former Gov Mike Foster’s administration was openly for sale so this little gem from Murphy himself at the end of Rainey’s piece was priceless: Continue reading “The Mouton Indictment ripples across the media. Not another black eye! A Cedric Richmond charity looting update.

OK folks here is a multiple choice quiz on Cedric Richmond’s latest black eye, which he got:

A. In another bar fight.
B. From a woman defending herself from his unwanted advances.
C. Playing basketball.
D. All of the above.
E. None of the above.

I’m thinking Richmond really needs Charlie Rangel mentoring him, not Jim Clyburn. JMHO.

As Dambala at American Zombie puts it, New Orleans area politicians looting charities is the “art of the con profit”.  The scheme is now a time-honored one in the Dollar Bill Jefferson crime family: Steer government earmarks to a charity under the effective control of the politician doing the steering and then loot the money out on the back-end. In Jefferson Parish Councilman Byron Lee’s case, people have been looking and then some for several months and the verdict is in as the man appears in dire need of a criminal indictment.  We’ve been hearing rumors for weeks now that is exactly what has happened. Before we get to the latest I think we should review Lee and his history with affiliated con profits:

We begin with the River Birch landfill, since all corruption roads appear to lead straight back to Team Ward/Heebe’s massive real estate holding in Waggaman, purchased in the 1960s from Carlos Marcello. As part of the settlement involving the permitting process in the late 1990’s River Birch agrees to pay $70,000 per year for 10 years to the 3rd Jefferson Parish Council District to fund community projects in the area impacted most by the landfill. I’ll add landfills and corruption seem to go together in Jefferson Parish like white on rice and it contains a major political component.

Enter current 3rd District Jefferson Parish Councilman Byron Lee, a corrupt sack of shit that has been twice duly elected by the voters despite the fact he sold them out. Once he assumed control of the annual payments he began steering them to not for profits affiliated with him. None of this was a secret yet Lee was reelected in 2007 as Louisiana voters once again shoot themselves in the foot. The spending trend was unmistakable. Continue reading “It”

Subject: Missing Check Copies

This morning, l looked for check # 961200 made payable to Thompson Thibodeaux Community Development Organization for a $100,000 CEA and it is missing. This check copy was not missing when our summer workers accounted for all check copies two months ago. This is the third check copy that I have found missing since the summer workers completed this project. One check was to Jefferson Sports and Scholastic and the other to Visa. If you have any of these, please notify me immediately.

Fortunately, I had another copy of the check to Thompson Thibodeaux however; I am concerned that any documentation left in your work area may get misplaced.

REMEMBER – WE RECEIVED FORMAL NOTICE FROM THE US DEPARTMENT Of JUSTICE REGARDING THE PRESERVATION OF RECORDS. IT lS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE THAT ALL RECORDS ARE RETURNED TO THE PROPER LOCATION AT THE END OF THE WORK DAY.

Copies of checks paid to nonprofit organizations by Jefferson Parish are missing, despite an order from the U.S. Attorney’s office to preserve all documents for a federal investigation into parish finances Continue reading “Oops, did Silly Wabbit Bryon Lee get caught with hand in cookie jar – WDSU reports “Check records missing in Jefferson Parish””

Silly wabbit, looting charities is just for kicks: A Cedric Richmond/Byron Lee charity looting update.

Well folks, we might as well declare open season on this one for Byron Lee has his own charity looting gig in Jefferson Parish dating back to around the same time the Dollar Bill Jefferson Crime Family was looting earmarks from charities in Orleans Parish.  We included ol’ Ced in the post title because everytime he stopped short on the campaign trial Byron’s nose ended up parked in his hiney.

I mention  this because Jeremy Alford over at the Jefferson Report has uncovered more problems with Lee connected charities and those don’t count the problems we’ve been sitting on over here at Slabbed due to time constraints.

These reports on Richmond and Lee have legs and then some.
