Criminal Malfeasance, as defined by the Legislature and understood here in Jefferson Parish, has a dual definition:
FIRST THE LAW… apparently enacted to stay in a book and not be applied:
1) RS 14:134 SUBPART F. OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT AND CORRUPT PRACTICES
§134. Malfeasance in office
NOTE: §134 eff. until Aug. 15, 2011. See Acts 2010, No. 811, §1.
Malfeasance in office is committed when any public officer or public employee shall:
(1) Intentionally refuse or fail to perform any duty lawfully required of him, as such officer or employee; or
(2) Intentionally perform any such duty in an unlawful manner; or
(3) Knowingly permit any other public officer or public employee, under his authority, to intentionally refuse or fail to perform any duty lawfully required of him, or to perform any such duty in an unlawful manner.
Any duty lawfully required of a public officer or public employee when delegated by him to a public officer or public employee shall be deemed to be a lawful duty of such public officer or employee. The delegation of such lawful duty shall not relieve the public officer or employee of his lawful duty. The ‘Little Man’ Uncle Carlos (as in Marcello) must be all a glee in his grave to think that the political elite of Jefferson Parish have chosen as their persona, wannabe wise guys, just like his ‘family’ of the past.
And what about this thing, this MAFIOSO thing, that attracts our Parish politicians: from Judge to Parish President, from Council member to Clerk of Court, from a Chief of Police to School Board member, from Mayor to State legislator? Jefferson Parish’s Political establishment’s shocking and disturbing characterization of themselves, both in public projection and by emulating the “Thug Mentality” associated with a mafia family does in fact identify these individuals with what the adopted analogy implies, ORGANIZED CRIME!
Simply stated another way, we have a entrenched, incestuous, arrogant, self-entitlement, retirement junkie Politico Class that do what they ‘wanna do…whatz youz going to do about it?’
Here are some examples of such abominable public exhibition: Continue reading “The Jefferson Parish Politico Mafioso: A reign of uninterrupted criminal malfeasance and”
Capella, the council chairman, declined to discuss specifics of his nearly two hours on the witness stand. “I want to honor the secrecy of the grand jury proceedings,” he said
. “But I will say that I answered every question they had about the previous administration
for me as a witness.”
“Ohhhh. Ayeeye” – Sop put the black hat on the spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sopranos – but let’s not forget that it was Council President Tom Capella who stood on his hat box and played a hat trick on the Grand Jury. Sure thing, Tom, anyone can see there is no relationship between the members of the current Parish Council and those of the “previous administration”! Not even the revirginating John Young could sell that!
According to the Times Picayune, the invitations sent “while I was out” were “another sign that the federal investigation into Jefferson Parish government corruption is heating up”.
SLABBED kicks off the week of this “grand” event with CLUE® – the Grand Jury version. Unlike the River Birch version, this game is all questions.
It is not altogether uncommon for subjects or targets of the grand jury’s investigation, particularly in white-collar cases, to request or demand the opportunity to tell the grand jury their side of the story.
The Times Picayune confirmed the following invited guests would be attending – Jefferson Parish Council members John Young, Chris Roberts, Elton Lagasse, Cynthia Lee-Sheng, and Tom Capella. Council members Louis Congemi and Byron Lee had not responded when the story published.
If you’d like to play, the rules are simple. Players guess questions the Grand Jury will need answered in order to have a CLUE about the role one or more of the “present” Parish leaders played in questionable events related to the Broussard administration.
Questions may address any aspect of the Broussard administration and are not limited to a Council member’s role relative to that of Broussard, his former assistant Tim Whitmer, former Parish attorney Tom Wilkinson, or Broussard’s ex-wife Karen.
Ready? The dice are rolled and the first player to ask a CLUE question will be….
Councilman Roberts did not respond to a request for comment.
I guess not! I mean what can you say when you’re the cutest guy on the Jefferson Parish Council and you’ve got “Cute Guys” headlining your campaign kickoff party- wanna a bar-b-que?
Long rumored to be interested in an At-Large Jefferson Parish Council seat, District 1 Councilman Chris Roberts has formed a committee to elect him to the At-Large seat vactated by new Parish President John Young and announced a campaign kickoff party.
The campaign kickoff party will be held on Saturday, October 30th and feature music from Amanda Shaw & The Cute Guys.
Roberts who is term-limited in his District seat, would relinquish his District seat early if elected. He would also need to seek a full-term in October 2011. His current term expires December 31st 2011.
District 1 serves portions of the City of Gretna, as well as the towns of Jean Lafitte and Grand Isle, the Terrytown area and portions of unincorporated Jefferson Parish on the West Bank.
Prior to his council election in 2003, Councilman Roberts was a member of the Jefferson Parish School Board.
Once again, Chrissy seems to be going whole hog.

What has become known here on slabbed as the Jefferson Parish political corruption scandal is a multi-faceted affair that would take several posts to recap. In my opinion the big Kahuna is the River Birch landfill but we also have the petty corruption in the Redflex Contract along with some garden variety payroll fraud, and of course the blatant double-dealing which started it all in Bill Hubbard, his girlfriend, Tim Whitmer and Lagniappe Industries among other things. As Jim Letten’s boys began to examine all these items via subpoena there was commonality between all the scandals in the person in the Parish Attorney’s office whose job responsibilities included most all record requests in Anne Marie Vandenweghe.
Anyone following the NOLA media from late October of last year on were treated to a succession of headline making revelations regarding the manner former Parish President Aaron Broussard conducted Parish business including the items I mentioned above. Each revelation drug in more and more people as the web of systemic corruption in Parish government was laid bare for all to see. And with each revelation the pressure on the perpetrators that remained in Parish government increased. The Parish Council, charged with naming Broussard’s replacement, made promises of an open and transparent process but when it was all said and done former Legislative Auditor Steve Theriot was appointed interim Parish President via the bums rush in a move that stunned local good government activists. And still the bad news from Yenni continued to flow. Continue reading “The truth emerges. Steve Theriot's lawsuit against the Blogosphere is continued retaliation against Anne Marie Vandenweghe. Slabbed was there from the beginning and now can tell the story. (Corrected)”
Folks the political class in Jefferson Parish takes the word “brazen” to another level. Our long time readers know that I am a fan of the old TLC series Connections so let’s make a few and begin with the agenda for tomorrow’s Parish Council meeting which I’ve embedded courtesy of Scribd:

I invite the Slabbed Nation to scroll down to item 84 which I quote:
Resolution – requesting the Parish President to investigate the feasibility and to provide a cost-benefit analysis for the expansion of the Parish Attorney’s Office to allow said office to provide legal services in-house which are currently being provided by outside contracted law firms. (Mr. Roberts)
This agenda item is related to the post we did last week on the Tuesday Night Massacre where assistant Parish Attorney Louis Gruntz refered to former Parish Attorney Tom Wilkinson as “his client” despite the fact he represented the Parish. Now Councilman Chris Roberts is doing an end run a round the Parish Charter to allow the in-house lawyers to double deal and represent Parish employees that get in trouble due to their double-dealing. In essence this resolution allows Louis Gruntz to aid the disgraced Tom Wilkinson. So the question is why would Chris Roberts carry water for these disgraced civil servants?
