And that was before Councilwoman Wendy McDonald was critically injured after being hit by a car. Eyewitness accounts indicated Ms. McDonald was bleeding from her ear after impact which is not a good sign. She is fighting for her life over at Ochsners. A couple of links:

Tonight’s meeting agenda indicates HB1523 is again going to surface as a topic of conversation. Best I can tell the Council is divided about three ways on this one and without Councilwoman McDonald I seriously doubt we see any official action on it.
And then there is the Hizzoner factor. Stay tuned.
I find it amusing that Councilman Reed would not support the council on HB1523. He is entitled to his opinion as I have a right to mine. But, mine does not reflect on this particular subject. Before Katrina, Councilman Reed’s “church” acquired adjacent property with an existing home. After a couple of years and by accident, I found that a convicted sexual offender was housed on the property. The home was rebuilt and tenants move in and out. His “church” mission statement is to rehabilitate ex-convicts. My opinion is that I would feel safer with those horrible, evil gay people (just kidding) living in my neighborhood. Hypocrisy or paving your way to heaven with bricks.
