Comment Bump: Mickey Lagasse tapped to be Waveland’s new city clerk

Lana Noonan left the follwoing comment yesterday evening on the post Developing.

Confirmed by Waveland Mayor Mike Smith—Mickey Lagasse will be nominated to serve as Waveland City Clerk. Not to be accused of not liking Mickey, but does he have the credentials that the outgoing clerk had? She was a CPA and had experience.

Now, Mickey may have all of that. I am not certain of his education and job experience, or what he did for Compton Engineering. Certainly hope so because the City Clerk has a lot of legal responsibilities, lots. For instance reconciling the books of account for the independent auditor to do the annual audit.

When Paula Fairconnetue was appointed City Clerk in Bay St. Louis, the Council had to hire another auditing firm in addition to the independent auditor, to do the reconciliation of the books, because she couldn’t.

Just my opinion, but as one who will be contributing to this salary, our officials should have advertised for a Clerk. If Mickey wanted to apply, fine. Political appointments don’t always work out, and I am being charitable.

Last time Mr. Lagasse worked in government he was the Hancock County Building official. I remember his departure was precipitated by a newsworthy event but that event was around 12 years ago. Any additional background in comments would be much appreciated.

Other Voices | Tom Callaghan: Tallest Man in the Room and Other Stuff

Posted on January 23, 2019

Five foot six inch Sheldon Adelson, the self described “tallest person in the room when I sit on my wallet”, hasn’t forgotten he paid for a war with Iran…not a wall with Mexico. Sheldon, who has increased his net worth a little over a billion dollars per year every year for the last thirty years, is not in the habit of forgetting who owes him. Adelson didn’t come in with $30 Million in the last ten days of the 2016 campaign, when it looked like Trump was dead in the water, because he wanted good government. Adelson wanted our embassy in Israel moved to Jerusalem, the US out of the Iran Deal, and Iran nuked. Not kidding. Listen up.

Iran and Israel. Know at least this much. Iran is not as bad as the American Press says and Israel is not as good. Iran has fought and died for us…in Afghanistan after 9/11. Israel has never put a soldier at risk for the US anywhere anytime. Iran has never received aid from the US and has never been caught spying on us. Israel, took our money ($250 Billion and Counting in 70 years) and our protection and gave us Jonathan Pollard, one of the most damaging spies in US History. Israel has never given us a full accounting of what Pollard took from us and what they did with it. Seymour Hersh and others have accused Israel of giving some of the secrets Pollard stole from us to Russia in return for Russia allowing some Jewish scientists to migrate from Russia to Israel.

Information. Where do we get information on Iran and Israel? It’s almost all from Israel-friendly sources. Murdoch, the son of an orthodox Jewish Mother will not allow anything bad about Israel or good about Iran to be said on FOX, The NY Post, or the Wall Street Journal. MSNBC hosts pretend Sheldon Adelson doesn’t exist and Israel has never done anything wrong. Amyam Mohyeldin was reporting from Gaza on four young boys playing soccer on a beach who were vaporized by two Israeli strikes. His reporting was powerful and effective and he was immediately pulled off the assignment by MSNBC management. MSNBC is owned by Comcast whose controlling shareholder is Brian Roberts. Roberts is Jewish and a frequent visitor to Israel to participate in Maccabee games. Rachel Maddow and the gang have been appropriately timid and manageable since…nobody is willing to go to Gaza or Tehran and actually do journalism. Continue Reading……

Exactly one thought on the deterioration of Drew Brees’ play at the end of this season

The Advocate’s Nick Underhill strongly implied on a podcast last week before the Rams game that Drew Brees had some sort of undisclosed injury. Whatever injury he has wasn’t evident from the film but the deterioration in his mechanics beginning with the Dallas game strongly implies an injury as his first pass against the Eagles illustrated. This is not the first time this has happened, Drew Brees is a warrior who is tough enough to play with a knee needing surgery.

Worse for Brees was that four of his five offensive linemen were also hurt. That every one of them played through the pain is a testament to the pride they all take in their craft. It doesn’t make the loss to the Rams sting any less but it does explain why the offense faded in the last quarter of the season.

Sean Payton is notoriously secretive with player injuries. I imagine if Brees was hurt that news will officially bubble up sometime before the next training camp is done.

This is one of those you can leave the political party out of it because anyone who vote for this guy after what he did to Pascagoula can only have their head completely stuck up their own asses. [For those interested in knowing what Maxwell’s dad did to the folks in Vancleave click here.]
