Guest Post | Jefferson Parish Citizens for Good Government: Campaign Contribution Report for the January 15, 2014 Parish Council Meeting

Supporters of Good Government:

The Jefferson Parish Council will meet this Wednesday, January 15th at 10 a.m. on the East Bank in the Yenni Building. As we have been doing for over three years, Citizens for Good Government will again present summary information from our Campaign Contribution Table shown below. Total campaign contributions of $602,507 were made during the past four years to our councilmen by contractors and subcontractors on whom the councilmembers are scheduled to vote at the January 15th council meeting.

Because there is a resolution on the agenda to select the winner of the lease for Jefferson Parish’s publicly-owned hospitals, East Jefferson General Hospital and West Jefferson Medical Center, Citizens for Good Government will speak on this issue.

In addition, we will speak in support of Inspector General David McClintock, who is attempting to convince the Parish Attorney and the Council to NOT deprive him of the right to directly access Jefferson Parish’s email servers. Our Inspector General has emphatically indicated that he needs this right in order to properly do his job and that it is legal for him to do so. CFGG is in total agreement with the IG.

CFGG will also be speaking about other issues of importance to us.

  1. Wow, seems kind of straightforward to me that the IG should have access to emails. This attorney-client issue advanced is a smokescreen. It assumes that the IG would violate the privilege by divulging confidential information. And, it assumes that he is not a “client” of the Parish Attorney since he is actually employed by the Parish. One day, we can hope, transparency will mean what it means.

  2. Unless a politico slips up all the corrupt, sleazy backroom business happens on the politicos’ private phones and e-mails. However the aromas of government e-mails might possibly indicate what’s cooking in the kitchen or currently on the public trough’s menu.

Campaign contributions continue to show Roberts shouting “Throw me something Mister ” from his campaign parade fire engine, while Councilwomen Lee-Sheng appears to be discouraging campaign throws like the plague. Hmmmm what’s cooking there and likely to be on the next election menu ? I don’t think the Council in general will be able to stomach eating that menu item.

  3. As long as the JP sheeple continue to put the same “good ole boys” in office time after time, the JP sheep will continue to get what they’ve always gotten…
Moreover, look at the Louisiana Legislature…same ole same ole with the same ole crowd of ‘ good ole boys’ up there..Louisiana voters CONTINUE to drink the koolaid…
