Best of the rest plus comment bump

We start with a comment bump because we have to put these rumors regarding the Vessel Mystic to rest:

In regards to the Mystic. No State or DMR money was used to purchase or fix the old boat. The Mystic was donated to the YMCA-Harris in 2008 by Ross Dodds, the boat set in ocean springs harbor in the front of the Harbor Landing for a year after that in disarray with no repairs to it. Matthew Hinton purchased the boat in July 2009. The Coast Guard Doc reflects this. Matthew hauled the boat out in April 2010 in Gautier, and began repairs on the boat. After digging further he discovered there was a lot of work to be done and was stuck on the yard for over 400 days with little help. He has done a grand job bringing this classic boat back!

Next up there was no way Jamie Miller would buck Phil Bryant and get in the way of Phil and his hard on to drill wells in the Mississippi sound:

My view: Self Interest dictates Jefferson Parish Council’s choice for JP Hospitals

And yes Virginia, there are financial side to the stories to the privatization of the 2 taxpayer funded Jefferson Parish Hospitals that everyone in the media has been made aware and you’ll only see it one place and that is right here on Slabbed. Let’s start with Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts and the money he makes from West Jefferson Medical Center.

Step one: Obtain latest Chris Roberts ethics filing, which Roberts finally and belatedly filed with the Louisiana Ethics Administration (hint to the gang in Baton Rouge the extended deadlines for filing income taxes passed in October and November). Note that Roberts still owns the a portion of the West Bank Beacon.

Step two: Play some lovely music.

Step three: Obtain Free November issue of the West Bank Beacon Continue reading “My view: Self Interest dictates Jefferson Parish Council’s choice for JP Hospitals”

An unnamed FBI agent joins Sal and Jan playing on the Internet

The crash and burn of the River Birch Investigation continues to come into sharper focus as everyone also gets some valuable insight from the heart of the investigative community:

New rulings reveal 4th Danziger commenter is FBI agent ~ Gordon Russell

For those so interested here is Judge Engelhardt’s order and reasons referred to in Gordon’s piece above.

And that valuable insight?  My experience is that the FBI and the US Attorneys have problems playing nicely with each other.  I’ve heard the term “splits in the investigation” in Louisiana.  I’ve heard that term more recently in Mississippi in reference to the DMR Investigation.   Heck just a few days back up Oxpatch way, former FBI Agent Hal Neilson filed another suit against former US Attorney Jim Greenlee.

US Attorneys are political animals while FBI agents are not.  The tension is bound to be there which is why I am not surprised the FBI Agent commenter to on the Danziger Bridge Prosecution was critical of the prosecution.

Personally, I try to avoid getting caught in the middle of pissing contests involving people that carry badges, guns and/or can indict the proverbial ham sandwich.

Stay tuned.
