I understand the Vandenweghe settlement has been signed, sealed and delivered

And history will note the saga of the workplace retaliation taken against whistleblower Anne Marie Vandenweghe is Slabbed’s second real time account of such events lest we forget Cori and Kerri Rigsby.  I know it certainly would not appear this way to Team Vandenweghe, but against State Farm the thugs in Jefferson Parish Government are mere pikers. Nonetheless, I’d like to congratulate the Young Administration and Team AMV for resolving this matter in the best interest of the local taxpayers.

Details of the deal are confidential and it is a safe assumption that there is a golden handcuff component because I did not hear about the finalization of the settlement, first reported on Slabbed, from anyone connected to Team Vandenweghe. Then again my sources in Jefferson Parish are second to none despite the fact I generally do not play with politicians as a general rule.

I mention all this because I intend to tell the story from my perspective of a journalist that witnessed many of the events from my perch at Slabbed real time over the past 3 plus years including the events that I think led to what became the prosecutions of Aaron Broussard, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Whitmer and Karen Parker.  I hope Nassim Taleb approves because it is truly a tale of chance mixed with epic douchebaggery that resulted in multiple felony convictions against multiple parties.

But before that happens I have one small matter in the NOLA CDC that will need to be tended to as Aaron Broussard’s former partner in the legal department of the Super 8 Motel on Clearview Parkway, Danny Abel has filed another defamation suit against me, Vandenweghe as well as every one of my Louisiana based attorneys in Bobby Truitt, Scott Sternberg, Brodie Glenn and Baldwin Haspel managing partner Paul Vance as well as the law firm itself via a screed that is essentially a recycled version of the defamation suit Abel walked away from in the LAED back in May of this year on the eve of my special motion to strike his complaint under Louisiana’s Anti SLAPP Statute. Judge Piper Griffin has been assigned the case.

Where yat Cat?

You know you’re in da Bay if you recall that the old Star Theater was at the end of Washington Street across from what is now the brand spanking new comfort station that caused so much hubbub.  I mention this because it has been brought to my attention the locale of the old Rats (Star spelled backwards and appropriate) has been the subject of certain controversy in the social media which in turn is why I do not take part in Facebook beyond possessing what I would term a shell account.

Slabbed has peeps from across the land and the UK that may be interested in seeing Hurricane Katrina take the historic old Theater down.

“A clean, good opinion”!? Which one???

I always get a charge from local press coverage of GAGAS / SIngle Audit presentations because what are seemingly simple concepts are actually mind numbingly arcane.  Luckily for the reader, my mind has previously been numbed with this bit of arcanity so along those lines I got a chuckle at Mary Perez’s rendition of the D’Iberville City Council meeting where their FYE September 30, 2012 SIngle Audit report was presented.

First things first folks as the audit submission is late (it was due on June 30, 2013) and that gives a clue as to the state of the finance department at the City.  Good, clean records are easy to audit and those entities with good, clean records typically are not late with audit submissions. In fact, my experience has been that auditees with good, clean records typically have their audits wrapped up 3 to 4 months after the fiscal year end.  In the private sector 3 months after Fiscal year end is typically considered timely for audit completion by way of comparison.

The second thing is Mary’s report quotes the CPA firm representative as saying the firm’s opinion was unqualified which in turn is a “clean, good opinion”.  My question is which opinion because there are something like 4 or 5 auditor opinion letters contained in a single audit and from the sound of things the City of D’Iberville’s operations are anything but “clean” and “good” as there is double dealing galore there beginning with DMR but not ending there as internal controls over grants and contracts appear nonexistent along with gaping holes in the cash disbursement processes.  That much was clear from Mary’s report and there is nothing good or clean about that.

And then of course there is that pesky FBI investigation into the Utility Authority, SH Anthony Construction Company along with Maxwell Walker Consulting and their curious contract with the City.  And while my experience has been that FBI agents are meticulous in their grooming, there is nothing good and clean about having the FBI about investigating government corruption. From the perverted skeeting old geezer files: Out with one and in with another

Welp folks, the Dantin criminal prosecution appears at an end as Jerry “Captain Jay” Dantin skates facing justice on the sexual molestation allegations that have dogged him for the past few years.  As Paul Purpura points out in his piece on this topic from a few days back and as Slabbed pointed out very early on, Captain Jay is romantically linked to Grand Isle Mayor David Carmadelle’s mother and is the long time friend of Grand Isle Police Chief Euris Dubois.

There are still outstanding allegations Dubois intentionally botched the police investigation into his friend precisely to keep him out of the pokey thus the civil suit Doe v Dantin et al has muckraking potential so stay tuned.

However, one thing I’ve learned in my 5 plus years doing Slabbed is there is not a shortage of perverted old “skeeters” so today’s Donna Harris story on a 79 year old from Biloxi that traveled to Slidell to masturbate in the women’s clothing section at one of the stores in the Slidell Mall is thus full of potential.

At this point there are a few ways I could take the balance of this post. For instance, I noted the Sun Herald has closed their story to reader comments which I view as a terribly misinformed action so this could be an examination of the media piece.  For instance I maintain the “noisemakers” can say what they want about the Newhouse House, Continue reading “From the perverted skeeting old geezer files: Out with one and in with another”
