Jefferson Parish News Miscellany: Trouble in paradise, Judge Head tells Broussard no extension while Mark Titus grasps at straws

Let’s take these news stories from the PACER beat in reverse order.  First up is Gordon Russell’s story about the latest defense filing in USA v Titus, which included remarks from Slabbed favorite Dane Ciolino of the Loyola Law School.  Essentially Titus is claiming there was a verbal sidecar to his plea deal with regards to the forfeiture provisions among other things.  Having watched the crushing of Jamie Perdigao a few years back I don’t think this latest motion from Team Titus is going very far.

Moving right along Judge Head took little time in denying Broussard’s motion to postpone his trial per this story from the PACER beat filed by Drew Broach.  Judge Head, like the rest of us watched the latest installment of the Aaron Broussard cancer special on the TeeVee and found the assertions in Team Broussard’s delay motion filed by attorney Robert Jenkins to be a bit lacking on the fact side since no affidavits were submitted by either Broussard or more important his doctors. Even worse is the persistent street talk that crushing Broussard and Wilkinson is simply a prelude to rolling up Jim Ward and Fred Heebe so Aaron isn’t even star of the show which is potentially worse news for the unrepentant drama queens that are the Goatherders.

That said I’ll put on my Carnac hat and predict Eric Paulsen at WWL TeeVee will try one more time to prettify his friend with another prostate cancer special on the Toolman show like the one he treated us to earlier this year.  For added dramatic effect perhaps Broussard will break down and cry like a crocodile such as he did in September 2005 on the national TeeVee between telling whoppers on Meet the Press.

Finally I watched the last Parish Council meeting and was happy to see the Times Picayune’s Bob Ross picked up the $325,000 taxpayer funded donation to JPAS, which can no long collect the tax that was previously dedicated to the organization, locally famous as a cesspool of nepotism.  Left to their own devices the folks at JPAS would singlehandedly bankrupt Jefferson Parish with the boondoggle Performing Arts Center leading the way.  Times are tough in Jefferson Parish as teachers are losing their jobs so my feeling is if JPAS can’t fund themselves then they need to close the doors and I say that as a patron of the arts here in Mississippi.

That said the T-P beat Krewe missed something important at the last meeting and it is my pleasure to roll it out here as there was a very curious motion from the floor by Councilman Chris “Mini Me” Roberts that merits special attention because there is evidently trouble in paradise and for that we need to visit with Ross’ last story on the Charter Change Committee to set this up:

Parish Attorney Deborah Foshee also submitted a change to the charter on behalf of the council that would allow assistant parish attorneys to live outside of Jefferson Parish.

“This will give us more opportunity in the future to plan for growth in that department,” she said.

I initially did not give this a second thought and indeed my subsequent googling turned up a specimen council resolution from late last year on this exact topic.  But the timing of it all lined up with something that was happening behind the scenes here at Slabbed that caused my curiosity to peak so I shook the Yenni tree after watching the council meeting but I did not get much info back so I shook it again and again.  Here is what I figured out.

Last meeting there was a floor resolution submitted by Chris “Mini Me” Roberts, seconded by Elton “LargeAss” LaGasse that reads as follows:

SECTION 1. That this Council hereby designates Alan Gandolfi, Office of Research & Budget Research Director, and Jeremy Dwyer, Office of Research & Budget Director of Legal Analysis, as advisors to the Charter Advisory Board on behalf of the Jefferson Parish Council; and as liaisons between the Council and the Board.

SECTION 2. That this Council hereby requests either Alan Gandolfi or Jeremy Dwyer, or both, to attend all meetings of the Charter Advisory Board and to make themselves available to the members of the Board for consultation and advice on all matters pertaining to the Jefferson Parish Charter or pertaining to any proposed amendments to the Charter.

SECTION 3. That the Parish Clerk is requested to forward a copy of this resolution to each member of the Charter Advisory Board.

It appears Mini Me is upset with Parish Attorney Deb Foshee over her appearance at the last Charter Change Committee meeting. Worth noting is Gandolfi and Dwyer are well-known Broussard era dead heads like Deano Bonano that John Young sent to the house, only to be resurrected by the Parish Council and reinflicted on the taxpayers of Jefferson Parish.  The work of the Charter Advisory Board is virtually complete so Robert’s resolution appears to be one made out of spite for the Parish Attorney.

I tell you folks if Mini-me does not like Deb Foshee then she must be doing something right but for now all we have are indicators things are not well.  I suspect Mini Me pines away for the old days when his bud Tom Wilkinson was running the show.  I’m gonna keep an eye on this to see what I can find out from behind the scenes.

    1. Because only 16% of the electorate in Jefferson Parish bothers to vote and individuals are reluctant to run against the machine candidates so the cycle becomes self perpetuating.

      sop

      1. And that 16% is less than the total amount of people who work in any and all of the feifdoms of Jefferson Parish Government: Administration, JP Council, Sheriff, Assessor, Clerk of Court, 24th JDC, 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, and all the other BULLSHIT electoral and/or administrative positions that have been created to employ their families and cronies plus their families …

Why do think the parking lot of Lakeside Shopping Center is full all day ,,, everyday… 7 days a week … JP IS JOB SECURITY … you pay, they play !!!

    1. I almost hate to say this because it is from the West Bank rumor mill but the source is plugged into the political network. Sugar is reportedly having problems at his toity lair. Maybe I should offer a bounty for specific information. 😉

      sop

      1. “Toity lair” problems you say. Hmmmmm

Could it be he’s having trouble counting all those big campaign deposits before his 4 G terlit automatically flushes?

Possibly hemorrhoids from forcing and passing too many big deposits in too short period of time?

How about his automated spray and wipe terlit can’t wipe him fast enough as the deposits are just coming out at too fast a rate ? Maybe the King of Pay to Play should have some crony compassion and allow the Prince of Pay to Play, LargASSe, win one campaign funds contest at a Council meeting.

Maybe he’s eating too much sugar-free ice cream at his Basket-Robbin’ shop and he got the runs especially after running after JP Attorney Forshee at every Council meeting?

Can someone tell me why did he ever have to publicly mention the fact that he checks his campaign deposits on his 4G terlit at 5 A.M. anyway?

        1. Sorry Sop,I’m confusing da’ Sugars here. Can’t keep my political Sugars straight.I’m still back on the Tampon Rodeo’s Queen, Pacossicio’s , Sugar e-mail to Roberts.

Can’t spell and spell check ain’t workin’. Need some extra sleep.

Oh, and Mr. Ciolino, here is an observation I would like to share with you in particular: The more legal fees you earn representing the Whitmer

  2. Sooo Judge Berrigan denied Fazzio motion to dismiss AND ATTY LEEMAN DID NOT PRODUCE ANY WITNESS HE CLAIMED IN THE PRESS WOULD PROVE LETTEN’S OFFICE KNEW OF MR. PERRICONE’S BLOGGING AND TITUS WRITES CHECKS JUST UNDER TEN GRAND AND DOJ NEW PROSECUTORS HAVE TILL WED TO FILE TO PROVE CHECKS VIOLATE INTENT, HMMMMM.

  3. The “A” Team from Washington is nothing to screw with, IMHO they will file what ever is needed on time their game plan is laid and has nothing to do with the Perricone side show. What I do think is recent events indicates there is more of a DOJ – FBI calibration, the new FBI N.O. Chief and Washington “A” team was not by happenstance and more than likely in the works before the Perricone story broke .

  4. Fazzio now has been denied dismissal twice by Judge Berrigan. October trial date is looking imminent. Mouton, Titus,Whitmer,Parker,Mack GUILTY PLEAS NOT to mention unidicted assisting co conspirators could work to FAZZIO’s benefit IF HIS ATTY goes NOW to DOJ lead prosecutor Brian Lichter. Fazzio is looking at over a thirty year sentence. Whitmer and Fazzio hook up now and give up Heebe, Sneed, Broussard, Wilkinson,Butler Sr. and Jr. and Ward BEFORE BROUSSARD AND OR WILKINSON BEAT YA TO THE GOAL LINE AND INTO THE ENDZONE.

  5. Well if looks like I got more than I could have expected according to you Tom:

That’s right Mr. Letten can you spell W A T E R G A T E ! There’s your blueprint. What seemed as a blip of an unrelated petty criminal act toppled a President and sent most of his advisors to prison. And for what ? COVERING UP the corruption of morally bankrupt greedy people who wanted to remain in power. WHITMERGATE is an analogous situation you have before you now Mr. Letten. Instead of tapes, you and the press have e-mails. Please ask Washington to form a JP Corruption Task Force to aid you in prosecuting those individuals who have so arrogantly betrayed the public trust for their selfish financial gain at taxpayers expense. We need help, and we need it now !

  6. Gate, very interesting that all this came down due to Sal Perricone blogging and recusal of LAED U. S. Atty’s.
