In this episode of Magnum J.D.: “it’s about the package and the people that surround it”

Folks last night’s latest from Baldwin v Costner made me and a couple of lifers nostalgic for Slabbed’s previous coverage of the shakedown of BP by Kevin Costner and others that ended up stuffing money into the pockets of several notable area politicians. Let’s review:

iVideo: Kevin Costner’s device for cleaning oil spill in action ~ WWL Tee Vee. Who dat??????

There’s no business like show business…..In this episode of Magnum JD: Bull Durham comes to town and appears on the Toolman.

Buddy Caldwell et tu brute?

Slabbed closes in on the mythical contract between Magnum and BP, executed despite the fact Magnum was suing BP over the spill including the use of straw man lawyers to play both sides of the field:

I only bring this up because a friend sent me this love letter from Magnum to Mark Holstein in BP’s legal department for the consideration of the Slabbed Nation.

I am writing in follow up to my previous correspondence. Our firm is eager to begin working on this matter on BP’s behalf. Please advise if we should contact anyone.

With kindest regards, I remain…..

Then Slabbed hit paydirt procuring a copy of BP’s contract with Magnum and his twin brother partner Blagnum. I worried not when I heard Magnum called the FBI on me for publishing it for if the journalist does not break any laws to obtain a document, then said journalist has nothing to worry about on the back end for publishing said document. I’ll note at this point the Magnum bros were hired to provide BP with advise for dealing with State Government and its oil spill claims.  Magnum, of course, is locally famous for his dealings with State Government Officials as we followed the BP money trail into the pockets of local luminary politicos such as Mary Landrieu, Billy Nungesser and Bobby Jindal.

Stay tuned as Slabbed will be turning up the heat on the ramifications of Baldwin v Costner as we put some sun light on these unsealed documents.

  1. A failed company and investment, the squeeze put on BP, and suddenly to actors fighting over profits neither thought would ever materialize.

  2. Wouldn’t it be interesting if the civil trial resulted in disclosure of facts that would lead to criminal investigations and indictment/s for bribery/influence peddling of State officials a la Meffert/St.Pierre.

  3. Unfortunately, the biggest WHORE in all of this was (and IS) the Federal Government. NOAA (the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) “gave” Louisiana a cool $1 billion in exchange for a RELEASE running in favor of BP and others of any and all liability for what is called “a Natural Resource Damage Assessment”. Does anyone in “the SLABBED NATION” know what the State’s “assessment” projected had been suffered, and what the State “gave up” in exchange for $1 billion? I sure don’t know the answers to these questions, and if any reports were generated by State Scientists, I don’t believe thy have been publicized. And most importantly: WHERE DID THE MONEY GO AND WHO CONTROLLED IT (AND STILL CONTROLS WHAT IS LEFT)? The so-called “settlement” of the Louisiana Natural Resource Damage Assessment makes whatever may have gone on with Magnum, his partners, BP and State and Local politicians look like “penny-ante” BULLSHIT.
