Here’s something for the scrapbook: Fazzio co-conspirator Mark Titus in plea talks with US Attorney Letten.

Paul Rioux gave us the latest on the defrauding of construction management firm Garner Services to the tune of $1 million and change yesterday evening (bad news Friday) and the long and short of it is that one of the co-conspirators aka the inside guy, Mark Titus is interested in cutting a deal with Jim Letten to rat-out Dominick Fazzio, a man who wipes his ass with indictments and from all appearances isn’t talking about his boss Fred Heebe no siree.  For our Canadian readers, this criminal prosecution is a branch of a branch of the much larger tree we affectionately call the Jefferson Parish Political Corruption Scandal.  My own opinion is Fazzio is a seasoned wise guy and Team Letten is trying to put Fazzio’s balls in a vice because he is also the Chief Financial Officer of River Birch, the landfill operator at the epicenter of the scandal.  Fazzio’s name has come up on Slabbed on posts since February 2010 and he represents a subpoena commonality with Garland(fill) Robinette.

I’d like to take the opportunity to directly address a comment to Paul’s story left user cjwilliams who wrote this:

why is it that the name of the Former State Senator who ran for the 2nd district congressional seat and lost that the TP won’t mention his name (Derrick sheppard) and why the former State Senator who ran in 2006 and won in new orleans east, her name not mentioned by the TP (Ann duplessis).  they were heavily involved in making sure the Gentilly Landfill would not be open so all the Debris and Waste would go Riverbirch’s way to make millions of dollars.  Some mony had to have changed hands, right?  the world will never know.

The answer to that question has all manner of implications but first let’s address Shepherd who tried to save himself IMHO, by wearing a wire for the FBI to Jim Ward’s house back in December 2008.  I also think it is clear from Mr Ward’s letter to Jim Letten by Peter Butler Sr that team River Birch Landfill had an idea the FBI was poking around back then as well.  The bottom line is the FBI’s radar was up for a long time before the political portion of the scandal broke in late 2009.  The possibilities of the political figures on the FBI party line is delicious folks and IMHO explains why Jefferson Parish Assessor Lawrence Chehardy called an early quits to his political career.

Stay tuned.
