OK folks if you want to catch up on the myriad of ways Jefferson Parish strives to continue doing business in smoke-filled rooms with no accountability or transparency you can catch up by clicking here. The long and short of it is that former Assistant Parish Attorney Anne Marie Vandenweghe sued to make the Parish honor her public records request for her own emails generated before she was fired for whistleblowing on corruption in the Jefferson Parish Attorney’s office. The case was assigned to Judge Ross LaDart, a jurist that either incredibly lazy, inept, corrupt or a combination of the three because his swift opinion kicking the case to the curb was just kicked back to him via appeal in a published opinion released today that is not kind to the Judge.
So today Team Vandenweghe wins big and the Parish will likely be forced to give her own emails, which rumor holds contains evidence of additional criminal activity in the Parish Attorney’s office as it relates to the payroll fraud portion of the political corruption scandal. This in turn explains why the perpetrators still employed by the Parish have fought Team Vandenweghe tooth and nail on this. We shall see before this is done IMHO.
There are several clear losers today. First is the firm of Phelps Dumbar and their lawyers assigned to the case who evidently can’t win in the courtroom unless the fix is in via Judges like LaDart. The taxpayers of Jefferson Parish lose because not only are there still alleged criminal perpetrators on the Parish payroll, they also get stuck with the legal tab defending shithouse double dealing on part of parish employees and certain elected officials. John Young loses too Continue reading “That ain't doughnut glaze on Judge Ross LaDart's Chin! Louisiana 5th Circuit Court of Appeals bitch slaps the inept judge, reverses shithouse public records opinion. A Jefferson Parish Political Corruption Scandal update.”
I’m working on a comprehensive Mark St Pierre post but this last bit of news from the courthouse can’t wait.
We’ve visited on this general topic before but today we again find out the true price of free speech, specifically in investigative blogging as evidence reveals that Mark St. Pierre went after blogger Jason Berry at American Zombie via neighborhood canvas after Jason broke to the world news of the now infamous sex Yacht used to bribe officials with the City of New Orleans. Hammerman has the scoop:
In mid-2006, when the American Zombie blog began the questions about St. Pierre’s use of a yacht for parties for Meffert and Meffert’s access to a corporate credit card, St. Pierre had the blogger investigated. An email presented by prosecutors showed that St. Pierre found out the then-anonymous blogger’s name, Jason Berry, as well as the names of his wife and children.
“The only thing we don’t know is his address and social security number,” St. Pierre bragged to his friends via email.
We have a bit of experience with these type things here at Slabbed. I’ll add the only thing worse than a crook stealing massive amounts of tax money is a crook that has the dishonest behavior rationalized like St Pierre because they tend to do stupid ass things like run a neighborhood canvas on a Continue reading “BREAKING: Mark St Pierre went after area blogger after St Pierre's shithouse deals with Meffert and the sex yacht broke on American Zombie.”
Yep and now after this has been posted for a couple of hours we have a special dedication from Slabbed to Judge Ross LaDart. We have breaking news regarding the inept Judge coming shortly.
On May 12, 2011 I write it:
Word I get is Balducci wanted Johnny Jones’ slot in the SKG…..
On May 23, 2011 it comes out in the court room per NMC:
When Balducci told Judge Lackey that Balducci had an interest in it, Balducci was thinking (but did not say) that he was hoping to replace Johnny Jones in Scruggs Katrina Group, and stressing about getting paid on the money he was owed.
Never underestimate the damage that can be caused by greedy neophyte lawyers folks. Speaking of lawyers, didn’t NMC say in a now deleted post last July that he didn’t link us because Slabbed was an “unreliable” source of news. I personally think that was the insurance defense attorney in him talking shit, but who know$ what drive$ a $elf described yellow dog democrat to $hill for a multinational insurer like $tate Farm again$t his fellow citizens that lost everything in Hurricane Katrina. Maybe it was them tax liens but who knows…
Stay tuned because I have lots more stuff on the Scruggs saga that has heretofor never seen the light of day. Meantime Patsy Brumfield has a good report on yesterday’s proceedings in the Zach Scruggs matter for those so interested.
I’ll be honest folks and simply say it is Angela’s fault (not our good friend Angela Russell at the State Farm Sucks Network but the other one). You see, there is one thing post Katrina that rubs me wrong to this day: Deluded morons that think they live in a place called “risk free” that also have the gall to tell others where they should live in the aftermath of the latest natural disaster du jour. I could be wrong but I do believe the death toll from the 2011 tornadoes season now exceeds the number of souls that died on the Mississippi Gulf Coast on August 29, 2005.
But these are negative feelings and despite my desire to again excoriate Angela from Kansas City I’m heeding the better angels of my nature. There will be a post but it won’t excoriate less than sentient beings that had fooled themselves into thinking natural disasters only impact the other fella (that should not be living ________________ (fill in the blank) to begin with).
I’m glad I got that off my chest. Stay tuned.
Folks there is a difference between critical reporting and reporting on politics critically. No doubt some of the recipients of my barbs would insist my missives are unduly critical and there is likely a kernel of truth in that criticism but it is equally true the art of reporting on politics critically is missing from the Mississippi traditional media landscape save just a few souls, none of whom are in the 6 coastal counties. I say all this because the country is paying attention while the locals are being regaled with cheap pre-planned photo ops masquerading as news.
I’ll admit that last week when I saw on the WLOX late news Congressman Steven Palazzo in a near top of the news story pumping gas for his constituents in Jackson County while sharing their concerns over gas prices I was not surprised. WLOX is part of a chain of small market TeeVee stations owned by Blue Cross so seeing such fluff there did not surprise me. I was disappointed though the next day to see the Sun Herald devote scare reporting resources to the topic, which is evidently a cheap GOP PR trick these days.
Now I was not the only person disappointed to see such fluff passed off as news as the readers (including moi) were not shy about sharing their views on the topic in comments. I mean Jeezus H Christ we have some of the very highest homeowner’s insurance rates in the country, a topic the State Farm supported Palazzo has not engaged. Because it costs several thousand dollars to insure even modest homes it is no surprise the coast lead the nation in median real estate price declines in Q1 2011 as ordinary people, stretched to the limit by the triple threat combo of high insurance, high gas prices and high food prices are losing their property to foreclosure or are wholesaling it trying to hang on for a solution to the one problem that has not been addressed by the State’s GOP leadership in the 6 years since Katrina save throwing taxpayer money at Bermudan reinsurers for sky high re-insurance. Continue reading “And if you think he is good at pumping gas, wait until you see him spit shine John Boehner's shoes: The AP calls out Steven Palazzo for being a lying sack of shit politician.”
