Not long ago on Slabbed, Longshanks said the American people were in reality slaves…

And when you read the Rolling Stones article on Wall Street being completely above the law you’ll understand why you see names like Brooksley Born, Judge Jed Rakoff, AIG and crooked CEO John Mack in our archives. And sadly, I’ve concluded Longshanks is probably right, we are becoming economic slaves to financial interests and that the sheeple are too self-absorbed and ignorant to understand that basic fact. It also explains why I have little respect for sham regulators like Jim Donelon and Mike Chaney or the rest of the corporate do bitches that populate the Republican party. The Democrats aren’t any better though their rhetoric doesn’t come across as quite so clueless.

Perhaps this is why discriminating bloggers call folks like House Speaker John Boehner a dumb fuck for talking about repealing the weak financial re-regulation bill that passed last year. Meantime the Hollow One, $tung by critici$m about being too hard in Wall Street, is now genuflecting before CEOs like John Mack $pit $hining their $kin flute$.  Ain’t 2 party politics swell!

Hat tip to Editilla and Dambala.

  1. Sounds like you were watching the Senate Hearings this morning…Bernanke, Baer, Shapiro, Walsh…et al…..problem is too big to manage….Repubs seem content with notion that they are all useless…

SEC basically conceded they can’t even collect the data necessary for surveillance and analysis….there is no enforcement….Fed Res can probably do the job, but will they?

My advice: check your cynicism and try to enjoy Spring….

  2. The multitudes who enslave themselves
    Sunday, 18 April 2010

No one was ever born who agreed to be a slave, who accepted it, that is slavery is a condition imposed from without. The moment I said that I realized that multitudes and multitudes of people, for various reasons of their own, enslave themselves every hour of every day to this or that doctrine, this or that delusion of safety, this or that lie. Anti-Semites, for example, are slaves to a delusion. People who hate Negros are slaves; people who love money are slaves. We live in a universe, really, of willing slaves which is what makes concepts of liberty so dangerous and concepts of freedom so dangerous.

  3. I have never accepted the idea that anyone is ABOVE THE LAW. Perhaps BEYOND but never above.

And there are many many who consider themselves beyond the law because of their perceived status: monied or dangerously violent or criminal genius etc.

To quote Edmund Burke (1729-1797) Irish orator, philosopher & politician, :
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

Thankfully, good men and women are heeding the call. It now falls on the shoulders of the people to rise up in disgust and indignation and to demand atonement, correction , accountability.

And God , of course, has it under control. Never despair; but if you do, work on in despair. ( Edmund Burke).

  4. I don;t know how you manage to take it all in without throwing yourself off one of the bridges over the Potomic James.

When this bunch is done sucking the blood oout of our economy all that will be debt is the debt, which we’ll all get stuck with.

I understand better why the French of yore invested the guillotine.

  5. For HANGING CURTAINS IN HELL, the American people are paying the consequences of having NO indignation about corruption. For hoping that law enforcement and law makers do the right thing INSTEAD OF DEMANDING it by attending their conferences, asking questions, becoming checks & balances for their elected officials, society which has been indifferent to the ECONOMICAL POLITICAL TITANIC, has no one except itself if it goes under.

Whether or not it is too late for things to turn around, I do not know. However, I do believe that it is past the time for society to become innovative about seeking ways to become part of the solution, instead of lamenting about the problem.

Inasmuch as news outlets such as the Times Picayune puts a spin on what it wants people to know, I am thankful that SLABBED –and its BLOGGING COMMUNITY puts the facts and the truth out there.

It is my constant hope that average citizens will be attentive and observant for opportunities to CHANGE conditions within communities so that people of all colors, races, and classes can live decently. And I hope the citizens will be observant about the quality of service (or lack thereof), that is rendered by elected officials and vote those people out of office; as well as set in place safeguards to avert officials being obligated to powers-that-be!
