Follow the bouncing Broussard……..

Here is a bit of background courtesy of Anne Marie Vandenweghe:

I received three responses to my PRR 441-10 for all Parish Attorney Organizational Charts from 1990 to present.

  1. Mary Galley’s response ( Her title is listed SECRETARY TO PARISH ATTORNEY); Certification dated 03/04/2010
  2. Chris Gillen’s response ( His title is listed ASSISTANT TO PARISH ATTORNEY); Certification dated 03/04/2010
  3. Peggy Barton’s response ( Who at the time was ACTING PARISH ATTORNEY); Certification dated 03/05/2010

At the beginning of January 2010 as the paralegal issue flared up Val Bracy had requested the same thing and in gathering the responses for Val’s PRR I discovered that one day after the PRR came in Peggy Barton had revised the chart by removing the paralegals from under her supervision. The box(es) with Karen Parker Broussard had disappeared. Barton did not supply any other chart(s) in response, just the one she had manipulated.

OK folks, I’ve seen all three PRR responses. Mary Galley’s response had all the org charts contained in Gillen’s and Barton’s response. Now flip through the Scribd embed following and follow the bouncing Broussard until poof, she disappears. Continue reading “Follow the bouncing Broussard……..”

Anatomy of a sex crime coverup (or is that f*ckup): Slabbed examines Grand Isle Mayor David Carmadelle and his pedophile stepdad Jerry Dantin

Folks this is a case we’ve been following from a far for couple of months now and we were late to the party as the signature of Jerry Dantin’s crimes against a 6 year old boy circulated online not long after Dantin molested the innocent child last April. It appears an attempt to cover up Dantin’s crimes occured IMHO but for purposes of this post I need to convey one of the allegations against Dantin to give our readers a flavor for the man’s crime, one of a couple of acts of perversion to which he subsequently confessed.

This topic is frankly hard to write about as we’re very mindful of the privacy needs of the minor child and frankly the entire episode is disgusting. That said I managed to find a video clip which will convey some of what Dantin did to that previously innocent 6 year old and it is embedded below the fold: Continue reading “Anatomy of a sex crime coverup (or is that f*ckup): Slabbed examines Grand Isle Mayor David Carmadelle and his pedophile stepdad Jerry Dantin”

“If it’s mine, it will never belong to anybody else, no matter what” – River Birch Plaintiffs file Memo on Seized Items to be Returned

If I want it, it’s mine.
If I give it to you and change my mind later, it’s mine.
If I can take it away from you, it’s mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it’s mine.
If it’s mine, it will never belong to anybody else, no matter what.
If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine.
If it looks just like mine, it’s mine!

Why is it that when I read the Plaintiffs’ Memorandum Regarding What Seized Items Should Be Returned that I thought of this poem about two-year-old children? Read it and you’ll know the answer.

Tick-tock it’s almost 12 o’clock

“The thirtieth edition of the U.S. Government Style Manual (2008) sections 9.54 and 12.9b recommends the use of “12 a.m.” for midnight and “12 p.m.” for noon”…soooooo

After reviewing the Government’s inventory Plaintiffs shall submit a memorandum regarding what seized items they believe should be returned pursuant to this Court’s previous Order by Wednesday, February 16, 2011 by 12:00 p.m. (Order, Federal District Judge Ginger Berrigan)

The Wilson effect: Sure signs the market is becoming concerned about Allstate’s long term solvency

If you’re insured with Allstate or are thinking about insuring with them this post is for you as I’ve had Allstate and its incompetent CEO Tom Wilson on my mind for the past week or so.  Now that I have a few good links, allow me to share some of the indicators I look at on individual stocks when performing DD (due diligence). Speaking of DD, it is an ongoing process that never ends which is one of the reasons I think most folks are far better off in no load mutual funds (offered by low-cost producers like Vanguard).

We last visited with Allstate last Thursday after they whiffed on their Q4 earnings.  Mr Wilson has a curious business strategy for an insurance company in withdrawing Allstate from taking HO (homeowners insurance ) risks in coastal America, where roughly half the nation’s population lives.  That is not unusual as many of the insurance companies are doing like wise but unlike State Farm, which bought into the Bermudian reinsurance market to capitalize on the shortage of coverage they helped create, Allstate has pursued a different strategy of using non admitted carriers to insure the void, at so-called market rates as non admitted carriers do not have rate regulation.

The rationale for using non admitted carriers is simple.  Consumers typically bundle their HO coverage with their auto policy and insurance companies make a mint selling auto insurance.  Withdrawing from the coast has its draw backs and the loss of the auto policies with the homeowners is a real downside to the industry’s current price-fixing scheme for wind insurance.
