In this episode of Magnum JD its star versus star: Stephen Baldwin sues Kevin Costner over the BP cream pie

With a tip of the hat to a reader, the unfolding spectacle of Stephen Baldwin suing Kevin Costner is enough to get me online from the salt mine long enough to repeat something I sometimes see on the finance boards which also is a prediction of sorts:

That ain’t doughnut glaze on Costner’s (or Magnum’s) chin.

We were Porteous impeachment central; the place were Faux News and CBS news New York fed on information alike.  At 409 news stories on this topic and counting something tells me we’ll be the place where Bull Durham, Magnum JD and the rest of the stars congregate as this litigation unfolds.

Indeed my good man!

ps: That oil water separator of Costner’s did not work since BP was allowed to sink the oil via use of dispersants.

  1. I’ll kickstart things to explain why this topic fits us well. It was Val Bracy’s final gift to the residents of this area in fact.

Read the comments as this post has attracted lots of interest of late and shows page one in google search results.

Here is the case page at Justia. Maybe Nowdy can pull the complaint. Her old friend Martin Feldman presides.

  2. Move this case to Beverly Hills where Mark Geragos can represent Magnum JD and Gloria Allred will provide sworn TV affidavits for Kevin Costner. Wait someone bring in Jonathan Turley because the Porteous case is over and he makes for good TV.

We haven’t had a good paparazzi trial in New Orleans since Ronny LaMarque’s wife tried to off him. Someone hand me some Orvil Reddenbockers quick.

  3. Gee SupaSleuth, I thought you were the only one chomping at the bit to represent (really defend) Magnum. As I understood the fantasy, Magnum was the son Gauthier never had and he is a legitimate trial lawyer.

  4. Looks like Magnum J.D. is finally going to get the opportunity to (directly) participate in a real life trial…

    1. I think we’ll be whipping out the big guns for this one.

We’ve had a Buddy Caldwell sighting!

  7. Sop, I believe the Gegenheimer’s in Cannes hired the rather large, well spoken guy dancing with Jon to move the big heavy boxes for Cherren but when they threw garbage at their ritzy dancing exhibition promoting the GretnaMentality things got a little smelly.

This could also be the prophetic scene in the 2011 Jefferson Council chambers when the Council dancing with all their ritzy BS approves the River Birch garbage contract deal.

  8. There’s a very illuminating article in this morning’s Times Picayune by Adam Kunzelman of The Associated “Depressed”, which suggests that Costner and a business associate named Patrick Smith defrauded Baldwin and Contogouris. I’m sure the latter Gentlemen are saying, “With friends like Costner and Smith, who needs enemies.” The amount of the fraud, if it occurred, is quite significant. Ashton O’Dwyer.

  9. How Magnum J.D. isn’t personally named in the suit eludes me… He appears to be the common denominator in every aspect of the corruption(s) surrounding this fiasco. It’s so transparent that even the laymen can see how Magnum jumped into these deals, pulling in any/all (Caldwell, Nunngesser, etc.) political influence he could muster, for a selfish dollar. And, the worse part of it all is that he has brought a storied law firm to ruin as his dealings with BP conflict out his firm’s participation in representing plaintiffs in the biggest man-made disaster our Country has ever seen. Gauthier, say it with me… Gauthier. The name is synonymous with representing plaintiffs and Magnum J.D. hasn’t even enough character to attempt to carry on the firm’s tradition. It will be interesting to hear the Gauthier family’s perspective on this latest in the saga of Magnum J.D. I read in a prior post of the exodus out of that firm a month or so ago… Looks like they knew something we didn’t. Merry Christmas!

  10. William Tell:

Great comment. As much as Gauthier loved money, he was also a true believer. I don’t think he would have sold his soul to a corporate piece of shit like BP. Apparently, Magnum did not give it a second thought. It strikes me that Gauthier’s family does not seem to care about how the money comes in.

  11. As Sock, myself and others have noted, Wendell Gauthier is dead…and no amount of money paid to his family by Mr. Haughtything as tribute to continue using the the “Gauthier” name as some sort of personal assignable competence mystique is a questionable intangible at best, and well, silly to say the least.

Here’s my advice to Mr. Haoghtything under the present circumstances…quando omni flunkus moritatus !

  12. Whitmeregate – Funny, as I was just wondering what I would do if I were a scumbag and in Magnum’s alligator shoes. Would I take whatever I had in offshore accounts and disappear? Then your quote: quando omni flunkus moriatus… HA! Very nice… I’m sure if you asked his neighbors, they would settle for either one.

  13. Folks I say we turn our attention back to the JP scandal where payroll fraud is overlooked. PB is still an active APA and Wilkerson and Broussard go about business as usual.

More than likely no criminal activity here with the oil machine. BP was not a victim they knew what they were getting and glad to pay such a small price for a piece of shit that let them spray baby spray until most of that oil is out of sight.

Real joke is how public opinion can be shaped and with a good PR team. You can sell shit to the sewer plant if you package it right. Sounds like a few of our elected officials have been doing this for years and we have been eating it up.

Old B u d d y could not say no to Magmun after all of the campaign contributions, and he proberly believed the oil machine worked or so he will say. At least he did not spend Tax dollars on the deal.

So let Magnum roll around in the dirt with the partners he screwed. It won
