The Alliance for Good Government honored lawmakers in state and local government at its annual Legislators of the Year awards banquet Saturday…The organization’s bylaws say its purpose is to “bring together thinking citizens into an organization which will promote public policies which benefit” the New Orleans area, Louisiana and the United States.
The organization was started in 1967 to support candidates and issues in the metropolitan area and now has chapters in Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard and St. Tammany parishes.
The legislators honored were: Jefferson Parish, state Rep. Joseph Lopinto, R-Metairie; Orleans Parish, City Councilman Arnie Fielkow; St. Bernard Parish, state Rep. Nita Rusich Hutter, R-Chalmette; and St. Tammany Parish, Councilman Al Hamauei.
Each chapter also presented a Civic Award to someone who has “worked hard to make a difference.” The recipients were: Jefferson, Margie Seeman and Margaret Baird of Citizens for Good Government; Orleans, Justin Woods; St. Bernard, Emile Pellittieri; and St. Tammany, Dawn Sharpe Brackett, CEO of the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce.
SLABBED congratulates Margie and Margaret on this most deserved recognition. As the reader who sent the link wrote, “the divine M & M Sisters got bling!”
