With Post Katrina Mental Health on my mind

Katrina claimed another person this past Monday, at the railroad crossing not far from the street where I plan to rebuild:

The death of a pedestrian found at a Waveland railroad crossing early Monday has been ruled a suicide, authorities said.

Waveland Police Chief James Varnell said Joan Edna Murphy, 54, of Molokai Village in Diamondhead, was dead when public-safety workers arrived at the train crossing near Waveland Avenue. Murphy was struck by an eastbound freight train.

A CSX Railroad employee notified authorities seven minutes after midnight. Police, fire rescue personnel and an ambulance crew responded.

Varnell said the train remained at a standstill for about two hours for initial investigation and the intersection was cleared later.

An autopsy later Monday showed Murphy died of massive bodily injuries, said Hancock County Coroner Norma Stiglett. Forensic tests are being performed.

Varnell said the incident remains under review, with Detective David Allen leading the police investigation. CSX also is investigating.

I mentioned earleir today someone else who has experienced extraordinary mental health problems post storm. His family thankfully was able to intervene. As for Joanie I was able to find out another place that she too had to be a slabber.

There will be a memorial service at the foot of Forrest St. on the beach at 7:00 p.m.

and the sea will grant each man new hope, as sleep brings dreams of home
