Turn around, don’t drown – but if the water doesn’t get you the paper work will!

The National Weather Service has designated the week of March 16-20 as National Flood Safety Awareness Week.

According to the NWS Web site, Flood Safety Awareness Week is meant to highlight the causes and hazards of floods, as well as how a resident in a flood area can safe lives and property.

Between the two-sentence lead and the safe driving tips that end the story, is a story-within-the-story promoting flood insurance – and there’s bound to be more to that story.

Merlin’s blog cookin’ with news of Ike claims handling – SLABBED brings desert

Chip Merlin has been cooking on all burners and dishing out news of Ike claims handling faster than I could digest and linkĀ  Dig into this big spread – we were all invited – and then I’ll put out a little desert.

If you want to find a bunch of irate policyholders with plenty of stories to tell, hang out with Tina Nicholson and Javier Delgado in our Houston office. Commercial and residential policyholders have had enough frustration trying to do it themselves and are seeking legal counsel to fight the delays and denials from their insurance carriers.
